The SL-1700 mk2 is my favourite Technics turntable. It has the exact same motor, tone arm, target light, and platter as the SL-1200 mk2 with the convenience of auto return. This makes it easy to get parts. The perfect home turntable for me. The auto return is switchable if you wanted to use it in a DJ booth.

Sadly, the reviewer has not the faintest clue what he is talking about. In my books, the new Technics SE-R1 is a pretty looking trash can - disgusting. Check out the THD spec. and compare that to the Technics SE-A100.

@@Tobbes-music and what is exactly realistic? A electric guitar sounds so much different as a acoustic guitar… did people who preferred the acoustic sound stand against the sound of electric guitars once they came on the market? Livingroom speakers add a bit if depth, dynamic and definitely a little mudder as studio monitors…. With they only reason to let the music sounds better.

@@Tobbes-music modern cars are better isolated from outside and engine sounds as older cars. Yes the older car gives a more natural driving experience when you hear your tires but only a few would choose a car like that. You can get the natural studio sound out of studio headphones but nobody want those headphones

I have purchased a few of these Chinese copies. Accuphase, the HOOD, ML JC2, etc. I did not have much expectation on the first purchase. However, these units are built exceptionally well, and they sound fantastic. I buy units with expired patents, so it is not intellectual theft. I have opened each amplifier and preamp it to check inside. Clean, immaculate construction. BRZHIFI is my favorite builder. I have found circuit boards stamped with the original manufacturer's name, i.e., Accuphase. 67,000 microfarads?? yes! That was a shock as they are not copies. The components are high quality, and if you would like to tinker, you could replace caps, resisters, and transformers with higher-level components. But the sound of these is fantastic.

the b&w are the better design Clearly the tone depends on the drivers used In particular the mid that covers from 400 to 3000 Hz I would try a treated paper mid instead of a plastic one But the project has a really great potential indeed

The way he did it is incorrect, you don't equalize the output from your preamp to your amplifier because you'll be equalizing a signar with variable output (it is affected by your volume knob). You must always equalize line level signals and for that you hook the equalizer to your tape play/rec connectors just like he shows in the beginning of the video in the booklet. Funny thing is that he has the booklet showing how to do it but he still does it incorrectly.

Thank you for trying. I followed your methods and ended up with a remaining "dents" or two as well. I took the tweeter apart and tried pushing out the dents from the inside. It didn't work. Once the tweeter is crushed, it'll never be round again, at least the Dynaudio tweeter. But, there doesn't seem to be any sonic degradation, at least with human ears. Measurements may say different but the Dynaudio Excite X34 speakers still produce great music.
