Each of your stories has a hook that draws me in, leaving me wanting more. Please tell me you’ll write a novel some day. You definitely have the talent for it! I’m thinking a non-knitter would never see anything wrong with those gloves. Assuming they do fit your nephew, and the finger holes aren’t too tight from seaming the gaps, I think he’ll be very pleased with them. We are always our worst critic. I’ve not yet knit the Sophie Scarf, but I did pickup a pattern on etsy for a Sophie lookalike that is crocheted. I’ll be making it in single strand fingering. The pattern itself is quite simple, but it’s crocheting a fine weight yarn that will be more challenging for me.I have crocheted a scarf with that weight before, but I found it to be a bit tedious, unlike knitting with it. I really hope you join that group, though being an introvert myself, I completely understand and empathize with your hesitation to go alone.

Hello Renna. Thank you for you comment about my stories I am probably going to give my nephew the gloves. I'd love to know the name of the crochet version of the Sophie Scarf. The one I am knitting is taking me a little bit of time. I am enjoying the process though. I'm still thinking about the knitting group. I'll keep you updated.

Hi Lynda. You should give the knitting group a go. When I moved nine years ago to be near my daughter, I didn’t know anyone. Joining a knitting group was one of the first things I did. I have made two very good friends and enjoy being with all the members of the group even though we are varied in age and ability. I’m just about to read your story and looking forward to it. I’m an avid reader and also go to a book group run by our local library. Take care of yourself.. love Elsie x

Hi Lynda. I go to my Council on Aging knitting group every week, and I always look forward to it. It’s nice to be with other knitters. You can just knit/crochet and listen to the others talk, or if you feel like joining in, you can. You get to decide. No pressure.

Hi Lynda, I think this time of year is always tough because of the cold weather and coming off the Holidays. I understand, though, that it’s not that simple, either ❤ I love all your projects! Your blanket is gorgeous. I enjoyed Clair’s story. My takeaway is that we can spend so much of our lives being angry, especially, with family and while there may be good reasons for our anger it just sucks the joy out of our lives and life goes by very fast. Looking forward to seeing your sophie hood. Denise

I bet your nephew will like the mitts, we are always critical of our own work. I use a dot of fabric glue on those pesky chenille ends. Or you can secure them with a needle and thread. Sending you a hug, a knitting group sounds like a perfect fit for you, I encourage you to go! If you don't enjoy it you can always quit.

Nice art you have picked for the wall. I enjoyed the short story/ it did what it should and that's bringing out emotions. and I know all about isolation as I deal with pretty severe social phobia. I think just having this podcast is really important for you, enjoy your puzzle!

Thank you. Most of the art on the wall are Ross memories and very precious to me. I can only imagine how difficult dealing with social phobia must be for you. I would say my introvert personality also reflects a social anxiety. The podcast definitely helps me. Thank you for visiting and commenting.

Hari OM Such pretty winter scenes to add poignancy to the tale of the empty nester... I appreciated the juxtaposition of seeking quiet time in a busy family home, versus the desire for a little of the 'busy-ness' once quite becomes the norm. Your oversize hat is actually rather comfy looking and suits you very well - a proper winter topping! I need to have a go at scarves instead of ponchos and shawls, which have now started to overtake my wardrobe... YAM xx

I’d been lamenting the fact that my Dollar Tree no longer carried yarn, as I saw your lovely chenille scarves during Vlogmas. I’m not sure why it never occurred to me to check with another location, as even in our small town, there are multiple Dollar Trees. I was thrilled recently to discover this yarn at a different store location. Unfortunately, they only had hot pink, but I’ll be checking back there periodically. Like many of your viewers, I could relate somewhat to Beth’s situation. I’m not alone, still having my husband with me, but after spending a quiet Christmas, I’ve been reflecting lately how busy, and noisy, our home once was. At the time the kids were young and living under our roof, I’d long for a few hours of quiet to myself. Now, I’d gladly trade these quiet hours to once again hear children’s laughter, or even arguing, ringing down the halls. Your stories leave me wanting more!
@JoeysScarf28 күн бұрын
The Dollar Tree is hit or miss for sure. I wonder if you can order online? I like the quiet sometimes. But not having Ross, is such a change. He was a talker. And I loved our conversations and his stories. I’m trying to get up the courage to investigate the knitting club here in this community. So scary! I’ll let you know.
@Rennagayle28 күн бұрын
@ I understand what you mean about the quiet without Ross. My husband is the talker and storyteller in our relationship. Considering that he’s fifteen years older than me, I realize that increases the odds of him leaving first, and I do not relish the idea of that kind of quiet. Linda, I do hope you decide to visit the knitting club! Think of it this way, you’re an experienced and talented knitter. You could bring much to the table that could benefit others. Who knows? You may even make a new friend or two.

Lynda i enjoyed the way you read the story, playing in the background with the images on the screen and how the birds matched in line. Even in worsted weight, the Musselborough hat seems like a lot of work ugh, but you did it and it looks warm for sure.
@JoeysScarf28 күн бұрын
Thank you Ophelia. I’m glad you enjoyed the story. The Musselburgh hat is a challenge for a couple of reasons. It’s a little tricky to get started, the sizing, and then the tons of stockinette. But if you get it right it’s a pretty neat hat.
