This observation by Albert Einstein-that the same EMF was induced across the coil whether the coil moved with respect to a stationary permanent magnetic or if the coil in the lab was stationary and one moved the magnetic with respect to the coil, was nature whispering to Einstein that there is no preferred reference frame in nature. This to Einstein meant that no experiment performed by whatever means, whether using coils of wire and magnets of some sort or by using light in some way would ever allow the experimenter to be able to determine absolute motion. ALL reference frames in uniform unaccelerated velocity with respect to one another can claim to be at rest, and everyone else is moving.

Older ones used mercury tilt switches instead of magnets and reed switches. Both styles are extremely reliable❤
