Really enjoyed both your vlogs! Have always enjoyed following. So fun to see your family growing up and sharing adventures. We too had experienced most of the places in your vlogs so it’s fun to relate.

It has to be pretty hot for a dip in the waters off PT. Port Townsend used to be a very quiet bohemian town populated by artsy, hippy types. In order to survive economically it morphed into a more family friendly tourist destination. Fort Worden was in disrepair until they wisely turned it into more of a multi use center that brought in revenue to restore and maintain the wonderful historic buildings. People with money started retiring and moving there as better and more health care (and the new hospital) became available. As much as I miss the old PT, I understand that it was necessary to upscale to bring in the hoards and their money. It is quite expensive to live and eat there now.

another reason for all the high-rise construction is the agricultural land reserve. Kelowna was settled because of the Okanagan's micro-climate that made fruit orchards and tobacco farms viable - the only other location in Canada being the Niagara region of southern Ontario where this was possible. The vast majority of the area now covered by Kelowna's urban development was once agricultural land occupied by orchards and farms, and in order to preserve what remained of this prime agricultural land after decades of unrestricted development the existing agricultural areas are now protected and can only be developed for other purposes under certain conditions.

I was a teen in the 90's and worked and hung out downtown. To me Seattle seems pretty much the same as before. There are a lot of closed businesses, but there is still a lot to do in the city. Not sure why some people freak out saying they won't go to Seattle. 3rd Avenue is still 3rd Avenue from the 90's. I've been downtown in the day and night with my kids and nothing's ever happened. And as someone who has gotten around on public transportation throughout my life there are dangerous people everywhere. And a lot of good people everywhere. I was downtown lastnight and saw cops parked on the sides of the street. Also there's security in some of the stores. I didnt feel unsafe at all. Sure, there are a lot of homeless , sometimes openly doing drugs, but in all my years never had a homeless person harrass me. And homeless are everywhere, not just in Seattle.

I don’t think anyone denies Seattle has its problems. Especially with the crazy rent increases after Amazon’s big money that forced middle class people out of the near neighborhoods, and the hit we took with covid, it’s been a rough ride. (I returned to Seattle in 2014 after 14 years away and the first thing that struck me was the sky-high rents and increase in people who couldn’t afford them. (The oft-touted idea that Seattle’s homeless“exports” from other cities is largely false.) Also, we do have lots of resources but what the city itself has a shortage of is Land. We’re not quite so limited as, say, San Francisco, but being a rapidly growing metropolitan area on a strip of land between two bodies of water, land is it a premium and unfortunately there’s not a whole lot of incentive to build affordable housing when there’s so much money to be made from real estate. Increasingly a lot of our housing is run by corporate landlords as well. There’s no denying these issues, but we did get tired of all the right wing propaganda hitting us when we were down, making up stuff and blaming all our issues on “socialism.” The “Seattle is a hellhole” trope usually calls us a “socialist hellhole,” and anyone who thinks Seattle is “socialist” is listening to too much Fox News. Alex Jones even came here trying to get a rise out of us. Yeah people like the thankfully-retired Kshama Sawant were examples of bad management, but Seattle’s core issues come more from good ol’ capitalism and a boom economy leaving people behind than “socialism.”

That song was about Francis Farmer. She was at Western State Hospital which is south of Tacoma WA in Lakewood. Address 9601 Steilacoom Blve SW Lakewood WA.The hospital, then called the Insane Asylum of Washington Territory, opened in 1871. A new bigger one was built. You can still see some of the relics in Fort Steilacoom Park on some of the trails there which is just down the road from the new Western State Hospital.

Ok, a normal family holiday video. But unbelievable it comes from a professional photographer and KZbin comparer who know everything. This is what i thought about all this compare channels. They can not create the wonderful video. If they go out and use the gear they forgot all the settings just talk about in the review. Looks like Timelapse mode or 10 frames per second. Better use the default settings. Anyway, enjoy your holidays.
