I'm just wondering how tall you are? I'm planning to make this dress, and I really like the length of your make. I'm 5'9", and the pattern was drafted for 5'6" height, so I'm trying to get an idea of how much I need to adjust to get a length similar to yours. Thanks!

Great idea to try on the lining first to make sure the fit is good! I will definitely try that when creating mine!

Oh! That pretty blue striped T-shirt came out so nice. I have so many T-shirts that are just standard big loose T-shirts and I wanted to make them more fitted what a great idea I’ll see if I can find that pattern. Thanks for Sharing.

I really appreciate you showed the original symptoms and the results of the adjustment. Why did you use 1/2 inch as your original rounded back adjustment? I have a 2.5 to 3 inch gap in the back armhole and I don’t know where to start.

You look gorgeous in the Anthea blouse! You can really pull off a dramatic sleeve. I'm going to go look at the top down method; I could use some good fitting knowledge. I really like Casey at Pattern Scout too; she's so clear and confident and fearless in her drafting and sewing. It was great seeing you pop up today!

Thank you for posting! I just bought the pattern and fabric, but haven’t started the project yet. I especially appreciated that you showed how to do the zipper!! I also have a Juki so I noted your stitch length recommendation for topstitching!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I just made my second pair, this time in the tapered view. I used the Top Down Center Out fitting method and it worked so well! I used the Gutermann Mara 70 thread for both stitching and topstitching (only for needle thread, I used regular thread in my bobbin) This was MUCH better than the Mara 30 thread I used in this first pair. I used a 2.4-2.6 mm stitch length for seams and 4mm for topstitching! Happy sewing :)

If you’re a tight knitter, your garment will usually end up smaller. Did you measure your gauge?

I'm keen to see your Lois dress! I have toiled this pattern, which I definitely recommend, as I wanted to see how low the V in the front is. I'm glad I did because I had a bit of adjusting to do with dart length etc also. I'll be interested to see how yours goes. Great plans and I am in desperate need of a new iron also. Mine is ancient and was from someone's yard sale!!! I've seen the Rowenta iron's on several youtubers videos so I'm sure it's great quality. I'll have to save my pennies though, as they're a bit pricey from what I've seen. Enjoy!!

I fear I’m going to phrase this badly so that it’ll sound like criticism when I intend it to be food for thought: If you want mostly American listeners, by all means continue to mention Joann’s and discuss various commercial patterns. If you’re trying to grow your channel, though, and appeal to an international audience, know that Joann’s means nothing to many of us, and commercial patterns have to be imported at often prohibitive cost. For example, I have no access to any of the commercial patterns mentioned here. I otherwise enjoyed your presentation and wish you luck with it.

I appreciate your comment! I can understand where you're coming from-and you're right! I want to start shopping at fabric shops outside of the US, but shipping is also expensive for me and I work with a limited sewing budget. I hope to start changing this as I master the fits of patterns. Most independent patterns I buy that are not from my local sewing shop (not Joann's) are in the PDF format, if offered. What are some stores/websites that you like to shop at? I know of a couple UK shops, but I'd like to broaden my horizon! Again, thank you for your comment.

Great job... Perfect pair of shorts. If your machine had the ability to move the needle several points left or right of center you should get an edge sewing foot that is perfect for 'in the ditch" waistbands and many other things. It's a game changer.

Your pegboard would work a little better if you screwed a board to the wall at the top and bottom and then attached the pegboard to those boards. It would be more stable while allowing you the room behind it for the pegs to stick through.

I may have missed you saying it, but how much of an adjustment did you make on your shoulders? I know we are all different, but I think I would benefit from knowing. I’ve been thinking I need to start doing that adjustment because most of my things do ride up on my neck in the front like you described.
@MaryEllenMakes2 жыл бұрын
I believe I made it an inch. That may be too much, though. I think I'm going to try a half inch on my next top. The first time I did it, I believe it was an inch and it worked beautifully! Not sure why I tried to increase it
@tammymasson23432 жыл бұрын
@@MaryEllenMakes thanks for the reply! After my first comment I looked at myself more closely and saw that my shoulder seam was definitely too far back, behind the center of my shoulder. So I measured from the seam (near the sleeve cap rather than near my neck) to the center of my shoulder. It was 3/4 of an inch off center! I’ve been reading the Palmer Pletsch fitting book, so I believe I am going to give this a go!
@MaryEllenMakes2 жыл бұрын
@@tammymasson2343 Of course! I've read that a forward shoulder adjustment is common to go with a upper round back adjustment, but I didn't think about trying it out on its own! I've noticed my shoulder seams do not lie straight across my shoulder, but rather point towards the back of the garment
