Excelent solution. Few mistakes as others mentioned before, but you did perfect in ditching it. Incl. the SAR mission i call that a succes :)

great experiment with Active Track and Follow-Me modes. Either one is quite disappointing and not very useful. I tried to get them to work earlier and neither them would activate smoothly. It complained either not enough height or weak satellite signal. Mavic Pro has been a disappointment so far.

Is there a huge difference in the sound from mono vs stereo??? They sold out of the stereo, so I have the mini coming to me. Gonna use it on my motorcycle and the insta 360.

Always, ALWAYS know what the wind's doing before you fly lol, and always fly out into a headwind until 50% battery, this way you guarantee you'll make it back. Also, for range tests, you definitely don't want it in Sport mode. Cine = max time in the air (endurance)... Normal = max distance (range)... And Sport = get there as fast as possible. Not an exact science, but a good rule of thumb.

If you’d gunned it in sport mode it would’ve made it back but good job getting landed on dry ground 😅

Two tips for all flyers, always fly into the wind going out and don't use sport mode, it eats battery power fast. Let return to home work.

I've heard that if you're scared.... Go to CHURCH! Good for you for living. Life jackets on and pontoons will never sink. So even the worst scenario would have you guys just hanging onto the floating pontoons waiting for help. America didn't become the GREATEST nation because of a bunch of scaredy cats! Wonder how that got passed down to folks! Loved the video!

Boy you sure did attract the advice of a lot of experts. Like the guy who said you should fly it low enough to take advantage of ground effect. You'd be lucky to experience any ground effect at all and, if so, you would have to cruise to within about a foot or less of the water. Then there are the Captains Obvious telling you to test upwind and return downwind. Duh. I guess you should have started from the other side of the lake. Was there even access over there? You had an unfortunate result. Did anyone die? No? Could have been worse. I have to say I'm impressed by 2 miles video range.

This is a good reminder that a battery isn't like a tank of gas. In a car, if you drive 200mi on half a tank of gas, the second half will get you about the same 200mi. Batteries are very different. The amount of voltage/power the battery puts out will stay pretty much the same until it reaches 45-35%, at which point it drops of really fast. This is why drones loose speed, and their ability to fight the wind when the batteries get low. As a rule of thumb, if you think of a battery like a tank of gas, if the first 50% gives you 200mi, the last 50% will only give you around 100mi. This is why, during range tests, the drone normally wants to return to home when the battery is between 70-60%. Treat 66% as the half way empty point. On a non windy day, if the drone reaches 3mi at 66%, it only has another 3mi left in it.
