Hi! I have been searching so many videos to see anything remotely like what my monitor just did today. I have my first monitor (Asian water monitor black dragon) and he’s been amazing. He’s about 6 months old and currently has his own bathroom for the time being with all proper heat, uv, DHPs, and the bathtub has an aquarium heater to make sure the water doesn’t get below 82-83ish. He is extremely comfortable with me and we have a routine of visiting together in the evenings and snoozing on the floor together for about 30min before he goes into the water to sleep for the rest of the night. Well today he came up to me, same as always and he smelled my hair and everything, same as always. He always lays his head down and stares at me and falls asleep. And then out of NOwhere, started all this weird twitching of the head and looking around everywhere spastic like there was something flying around us lol I thought he was having a seizure but it was more like jerky uncoordinated movements. He was still aware of my presence and while he seemed to trust me, he was very spooked if I moved. It’s like he had seen a ghost and was trying to find it again LOL I continued to talk softly to him and he would run over my arm and almost act like he was trying to avoid getting captured by some invisible bird in our bathroom. I thought he was losing his mind LOL. Finally he went into the bathtub and swam around and used the bathroom (which was mostly gas I think because there wasnt a ton of heavy poop particles like usual). finally he seemed to be back to normal and came up to visit with me and then he went to bed in the water on his toy bridge. I’ve only seen that movement when they are first born. If you have any info or advice id appreciate it I was worried I may be doing something wrong I’m not aware of. Thank you!!

I am too! I have been breeding them a year longer than you sir. Do you want to start the first us cbb Salvadorii line? I have an almost 2 year old cbb Salvadorii. Keep rambling. Information is important keep up the good work sir.

I actually have recently made a hard decision to not breed this species anymore as I need more space and honestly I'm just a water monitor guy at heart...I just hope I was able to help others learn something from my trial and observations

Dude your information is so valuable thankyou for being willing to share it and the fact your not willing to put a camera in their face all the time actually tells me where your head is stressing animals to often is a bad thing. That statement alone will keep me watching. You doing any videos on breeding burms I’d be interested to hear your take they are one of my favorite animals I own 4 my biggest female is 14.5ft close to 100lbs she’s a albino green

Ya I want one at some point, but my only experience is big snakes what would you recommend I start out with because I clearly know I’m not familiar with monitor behavior and it wouldn’t be responsible to just jump into a species like this. In my current state they are illegal along with water monitors but we are relocating to have more animals for educational purposes and moving to larger encloshures for my current Burmese pythons. I was considering a Argus monitor as I can have one here and I do like them but curious what you would recommend. Thanks in advance
