So you claim that you are a newbie flew on a phone simulator for a little while, then took it out and flew SAFE for a short while, then BAM went into Experienced mode??? I seriously doubt that. I bet you have flown planes quite a while to be able to handle that plane like that so quickly.

Thank you for watching. I claim what happened, as this was my fourth or fifth time flying an RC plane, and it remains the only plane I've flown. I'll take your suspicion that I'd choose to lie about this, for some reason, as a compliment on my ability.

Hey, and thanks for watching. If I ever make another RC plane video, I will include a segment on that. Long story short, I used a command strip to attach the camera and duct tape. I placed the camera on the top of the plane, at its center of gravity. There are markers beneath the wings and the plane's center of gravity between them.

I have this plane. It's a good trainer. Yeah, it's a good idea to learn on a simulator first. Just to learn the controls and figure out what the sticks do. Knock on wood, I still haven't crashed it yet. With the simulator I figured out how to do tricks with it like, fly upside down, loops and barrel rolls. Some of the things I don't like about it is. It's really loud and centering the nose wheel so that it tracks right on take offs is difficult. Something that people should be aware of if you get this plane is that you have to take it off safe select to trim it out when flying it in export mode for the first time. Other than that, it's a great plane to learn on

This plane likes to float and doesn't want to come down. So you can glide it and get some good flight time out of it, by not having to use the throttle. You can make the battery last for awhile by using throttle management.

Beautiful place you have to fly there, however landing terrain looks pretty unforgiving. Since you hand launch there, I wonder if you’d attach a thin plastic skid pad along the belly, and remove the gear? Advantage of a Pusher! No more worries about nose damage, and probably fly more manueverably too!

The only thing that changes with more and more expensive equipment is the immersion and joy of driving itself. Basically, whether we use the Logitech G25/27/29 steering wheel or some DD for 5x the money, our times will remain practically the same. In fact, a load cell brake contributes to improving the time because it makes braking easier and more repeatable. But these are not the differences that will ultimately help us be faster. Generally, if someone has money, it is worth investing in equipment for better fun. But you have to realize that this equipment will not make us faster SimRacers 🤷

I was interested in hearing someone elses review until he stated that the transmitter is a DX 5 and even with the text correction in the video, that blew any interest in finishing the video. Know what you are talking about and maybe rehearse your commentary.

I did confirm the center of gravity after attaching the GoPro to the plane using some marks under the wings. However, I checked the center of gravity beforehand and simply attached the GoPro right above it. It was heavier, of course, but it flew fine! Thanks for watching.

Hey, thanks for watching. With the beginner rig, it was challenging to keep everything sturdy enough to prevent creaking and other sounds. Those sounds are no longer a problem with the newer equipment. I had the beginner rig for about two years before upgrading, and it served me well. For casual enjoyment of sim racing, it is perfectly fine. The upgraded rig does provide a significant improvement in terms of force feedback and the overall fidelity of the simulation. It is a noticeable difference, and I think the upgrades are worth it. However, it depends on how much you enjoy sim racing, as the higher-end sim racing stuff does get expensive.

If you buy such a PC you need a good Monitor too. Idk how much hz your TV has but maybe buy a proper gaming Monitor with min. 144hz and maybe WQHD. Much better than most TV's. Your TV has a high latency as ich can see in your wheel cam.

Are you full throttle at hand launching?.. what’s you hand position? Thanks
@justinsdaysoff
@justinsdaysoff Жыл бұрын
I'm at or close to full throttle when hand launching. I hand launch the plane from a hilltop, so I have some leeway if the plane descends, but high throttle tends to ensure the plane ascends. You'll want to be able to get both hands on the controls as soon as you can, so I hold the transmitter in my non-throwing hand. I throw the plane like an American football, trying to position my throwing hand below the plane's center of gravity or close enough to where it feels balanced.

I understand this video was made a year ago, but to cut down on your oversteering, turn up the volume of your tires. You can hear when the tires don't like how the car is acting, and if you have already figure the problem out, it can help you be more precise over all.
@justinsdaysoff
@justinsdaysoff Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this tip. I will try turning the tire sounds up and keep an ear out for when it sounds like I'm pushing the tires too hard. I continue struggling with oversteering (probably my biggest issue), so I think your advice will help me out. Appreciate it! I often push the car too hard, knowing that's not where consistently fast lap times come from, but it's a hard habit to kick.

FYI, ready to fly does no longer mean that it is actually ready to fly. It means you still have to buy one thing (e.g. the battery) and this allows the manufacturers to not comply with the FAA ruling to only sell planes that are remote ID ready or equipped. Now there is Basic RTF and Complete RTF. Convenient loophole to avoid the FAA regs for manufacturers that started at the end of 2022, putting it on the end user to solve the the remote ID issue without currently offering support or parts, and unfortunately leaving the consumer who does not know better (e.g. a beginner) in a lurch.

I just got the pnp version of this and have had to tear it apart to get rid of the priority spektrum stuff out of it. I don't use spektrum. Rx is for a spektrum radio and the esc plug is for the smart batteries that are over priced form Horizon hobby. I would be nice if Horizon sold a kit version, so beginners that don't use spektrum have to do a rebuild before they can fly it.

Thanks for the video, and nice place to fly! Love the FPV. I recently purchased one of these for my son and on his 10th successful flight, a touch-and-go went wrong and he damaged the steering/rudder servo (the gear stripped). The exact servo is not in stock anywhere and I now read that it's rather weak anyway. Can you advise on an upgraded servo that might be a bit more robust? Thanks

Hello, and thanks for watching. I can't reccommend a specific servo. I had the exact same problem, however (broke a servo on a rough landing) and was able to find some in stock online and replace the servo rather easily. I haven't had any issues with them since.

@justinsdaysoff Жыл бұрын
Though you're pretty blunt in your opinions, I appreciate the criticism. My ideal scenario when making these videos is to narrate live as I drive, but it often proves too difficult as it's just something I haven't practiced much. I make these videos for fun, I'm new to it, and there's a learning curve. Rather than scrap a whole vid, I'll record a voiceover in post. My intention is not to trick people into thinking it's live commentary; otherwise, I wouldn't include the camera angle on my face while driving. Anyways, have a good day, and thanks for the comment. Hopefully, if KZbin recommends me to you in the future, it'll be something you find worthwhile.

I've had a 2016 RS since new. I'm a video game lover as well and I have to say this video was amazing. The real life to simulation transitions were incredible. You definitely did a great job filming and editing this. I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned above about the game and the car. The game has been exhausting for me thus far trying to make my way through the forced feeling career. The small blurp about the gauges was funny. You think with all this added detail they could at least make the boost gauge needle move. I will say I'm a bit jealous you have an 18' L.E. I have yet to drive one to see if I can notice any difference in handling with the added front LSD. I'll have to reach out to a friend who has a red 2018. Keep up the great work on these videos!

Thank you very much for the kind words and for checking out my video; this was one of my more time-consuming video projects, so it does mean something to me. I'm looking forward to trying iRacing, VR, etc., and making more videos on those in the future. If you're a bit jealous of my '18, then I'm a bit jealous you got your RS new. I bought mine with 27,000 miles (about 43,000 kilometers) on it. And with a car like this, you never know how much the previous owner was throwing it around. It has some minor cosmetic damages here and there, but I didn't buy it to keep it like new. I was thrilled to find it. At least in the U.S., the 2018 red editions were pretty limited, plus this one had the sunroof, too. So I jumped on it, and it has been a great car. I'm sure the LSD adds some handling, but from what I've read, all models of the RS handle amazingly with or without that addition. As far as GT7 goes, I don't play much anymore. It's a great game, but as soon as I got my PC and ACC, I found that game style more enjoyable, especially since I do not have a PS5, so I have to deal with long load times in GT7. Anywaysm, thanks again for taking the time to comment with some kind words. I hope you have a great day and enjoy your RS.
