Hello, I was wondering if the locomotive is still for sale

This loco was built in 1946 and put into service in 1947 on the US Gypsum Co 3-foot gauge railroad bringing raw gypsum from the mine to the mill at Plaster City, CA. It is 75 tons on 6 axles and all axles are powered. This is the only one like it. Porter was never asked to build another. It does not have MU capability. It spent its hard working life in Southern California west of Yuma.

I see broken stays in their future. That fire door is incorrect for that. If it was an oil burner, it should have stayed that way or converted the door to the correct one. A good video anyway.
@trenesdecolombiaPabloHiguita5 жыл бұрын
That machine has been burning coal for over 25 years with that door without any problem

Any idea what the portable generator on the tender is for? (2:18) Thanks!

How much are you asking for her?
@NathanielKempson6 жыл бұрын
Wouldnt pay you in dog shit for that thing. Rip out that dumbass auto burner, put a proper mechanical lubricator on the cylinders convert it back to coal firing and someone might be intrested.

Jody Reeder yeah logging locomotives have always looked a little different and some of them are pretty interesting

That's an old Shay loco. Has geared wheels, and a driveshaft running down the side of the locomotive and tender.

Simply amazing to see. This locomotive's whistle sounds quite similar to the Cumbres & Toltec K-36 #487, another Baldwin 36" loco, a whistle that is very distinguishable from most other locos.

Is this at all related to the Crown locomotive hillcrest used to have in the 90s? It was black with a balloon stack i think but the rest of the proportions and the controls look more like i think that one used to look. In fact I think the one from my childhood was the same color scheme before being painted black.

A fantastic engine. I miss ol' #9 at Old Threshers. Glad she's being enjoyed by many more though. LOVE it when she rumbles by. The power is incredible! And the whistle... ahhh, the whistle. Yes, #9 is greatly missed here in Iowa.

Quechee Gorge Village in Quechee, Vermont had one exactly the same as this one but it didn't have the lip on the top of the stack, had a whistle with a longer bell, the roof of the cab was full, and it had a large tender with the compartment on the back for the propane tank. Theirs unfortunately died but I think they are restoring it because they're very easy to maintain plus it is an older Crown Metals 4-4-0. The are using one of the popular CP Huntingtons in its place

The whistle signal at 2:00, one long, three short, is that signalling the flagman to watch the rear of the train?
@conradfokАй бұрын
One long three short means stop at the next station
