Fig is one of many underrated ingredients in cocktail recipes. It's a shame people miss out on such a good ingredient.

Love a good smoked old fashioned- must say I’m impartial to a lapsang-souchong syrup in combination with your techniques to maximise the smoke to a nigh-comical level
@JSOS9 күн бұрын
I agree with you about the Lapsang syrup. Two years ago, I made it to serve a smoked old fashioned in the bar I manage, and it was a big success. In fact, I always keep some Lapsang at home, so I may try it with the fig. Cheers!

I finally got around to making this cocktail. I used Discarded Banana Peel rum, Drambuie, Giffard Banane du Bresil and Cinzano extra dry vermouth. I really enjoyed the drink. Well, two of them actually. Even with the extra dry vermouth it is sweet, but that's quite ok by me since I have a sweet tooth 😀

It's a signature cocktail for LPM restaurant (la petite maison), I used to work at LPM, and they created the cocktail. The recipe must includes 3 vine cherry tomatoes not normal cherry tomatoes & 15 ml rich sugar syrup not 10 ml simple syrup & pinch of salt & pepper not just a pinch of pepper & the garnish is 1 vine tomatoe coated with salt & pepper, cheers!
@JSOS23 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, we are both wrong to some extent. After filming the cocktail, I chatted with Jimmy Barrat to learn more about his creation and explore the idea further. So, here is his reply (unedited or grammar-checked): Thank you so much for the nice post. I just want to share the secret that have actually been lost with the recipe .... The cherry tomato is actually just for the garnish. The tomato use in the drink , is half a variety that we find all over the south east of France and eataly " coeur de boeuf " or bull heart , ripe roma works very well too .... Thank you again Big love from dubai As you can see on the Tomato point, we are both wrong, and I know why (or at least my explanation): I am from Bulgaria, and we grow Bull Heart tomatoes all over the country. However, a supply in the UK is not very common, so I guess this is where the vine cherry tomatoes came into play in the cocktail, as they are easy to find and cultivated in the UK. However, no matter the outcome, I love the cocktail. As with every other cocktail, the Tomatini also gets some revamping or adjustment over time. Cheers!

I found the video accidentally and couldn't be more happy to see that people around the globe sometimes think alike. I make (and I believe many more) do my bramble which is in my top5 favourite cocktails in the exact same way. One objection tho. Bramble is not a spring cocktail. Bramble is a fall cocktail for the reason that Blackberry season is August to October.
@JSOSАй бұрын
Cheers! I am happy to hear you make it this way. It is a way more delicious. You are correct, it is a fall cocktail, but in the UK, we don't get summer anyway, so it's like a spring/fall all of the time, haha

Favorite of the week, thus far. Wonder if it might work substituting Ramazzotti for the vermouth. Hmmmm.
@JSOSАй бұрын
Hey Keith. How are you doing? You can try Ramazzotti, but you may need to adjust the Campari measure to balance the bitterness. Give it a go 😉
@keithdixon3262Ай бұрын
So, in an effort to tweak it to match both her palate and mine, we tried 30ml Plymouth gin; 20ml Campari; 20ml Ramazzotti, and 20ml Benedictine. A riff on a riff. But I discarded the orange peel exactly as Giorgi did!
@JSOSАй бұрын

@cparks1000000Ай бұрын
There are lots of red bitter liqueurs that substitute for Campari.

Oh, yes, there are plenty. To be honest, I prefer Select or Luxardo. Also, a good one is P31, a bitter green liqueur for a green Negroni.

Though delicious these riffs is where I tend to prefer if using a liqueur split the sweet component not the amaro. I would keep the campari's volume but split the vermouth.

Luv a Negroni but what is Ur ideal Gun Negroni, best gin, best bitters and best Vermouth?
@JSOSАй бұрын
My favourite ingredients for classic Negroni are Plymouth Gin, Carpano Vermouth and Campari (in some cases Luxardo Bitter). For a white Negroni, i use Ki No Bi Japanese Gin, Italicus and Lucardo Bitter Bianco. I'll be sharing this one soon.

If you love the flavor of licorice, then you’ll love the new recipe of Drambuie. Personally, as a long-time customer of Drambuie, I can’t stand this new recipe Drambuie has authorized. Unfortunately in 2014 Drambuie was sold and the new owners think a licorice-flavored Drambuie is cool. New, boringly-plain label too. Yuck! Apparantly, the new family has never heard the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Generations of no change and these new upstarts ruin a great thing! What morons!
@JSOSАй бұрын
I have seriously not experienced any drastic change. I am unsure if i have an old stock or if this change affects specific markets. It makes me want to purchase vintage Drambuie for comparison. I may do that. It was an interesting topic to follow.
