Well, since the games are a sequel of the books, the characters and the relationships may be evolved, the conflict between Yen and Triss is about what happened in the first game: she took advantage of geralt's amnesia and chose not to tell him about Yen in order to have a relationship with him.

Geralt is also very violent sort of a man. He's not aggressive by nature, but when irked, he's not really a constructive person. Best aspect of him that translated in the games is his tendency to complain in Witcher 3. He's constantly bickering and brooding over things he should've coped long ago Also, he's not that snide in the books .He has a senseof humour, yes but he's a bit stiffer as a person. Constantly fixating on his insecurities, tends to push people around Only thing that turns his mood into something lighthearted is Ciri and Yen And without Ciri, their toxic relationship with Yen never properly worked out either

Nowhere in the books does it say Geralt is ugly, tired of seeing this everywhere. He's described as lean and pale with yellow-green cat-like eyes and an unpleasant smile that makes people uncomfortable, could just be he smiles awkwardly, combined with his unusual eyes and skin color like a corpse, anyone in a medieval setting would be uncomfortable. Another fun fact is that Geralt can control his pupils to see better in the dark, like a cat his eyes are slits in bright light and become large and round in the dark, they also appear to glow faint yellow.

I think the biggest problem with these additions is that they add problems that will always be a thorn in your side, and they never get easier to deal with. Like why can't higher level mage armor spells protect better against cold? Or just make flame cloak cold resistant? Sure there are work around, but it still doesn't get easier at any point, and rpgs are tedious enough as it is without having to micro manage your characters well being, even when they are super high level.

There IS indeed a love triangle and conflict between Triss and Yennefer in the books. First when Yennefer reprimanded Triss at the Aretuza Ball for sleeping with Geralt and lastly at the epilogue of Lady of the Lake prior to the massacre which led to deaths of main characters, Yennefer and Triss fought over Geralt on the road to Rivia.

You're really stretching it. Triss is a young enchantress in the books, and she has a fancy she never hid properly, and Yen is basically marking her territory. It's not like she's overly offended by their one night stand, which happened because Triss enchanted Geralt in the first place. Yen can find a reason to fight with an alleycat if she's even slightly annoyed by something the cat did.

Honestly this sounds like just another attempt to cash in on the success of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. The idea of a cursed sword and broken heroes feels a little too played out at this point. I’m not convinced it’s as original as people are making it out to be.

I'm pretty sure Triss is super different too. Like throwing herself at Geralt shamelessly aside she was a lot more cowardly. Which I understand that being changed in the games as people grow and mature and her losing that trait makes sense. What I don't like is the Eskel and Triss thing being dropped. Granted, I think that pairing was in a non-canon spin-off but personally I would've preferred that much more than the love triangle. (Yes I have a bias towards Yen but I also just really don't care for love triangles, too many arguments and death threats)

The games also downplay how much of a b**ch Triss was in the books. She seduces Geralt because she’s jealous of Yennefer, then participates in betraying Yennefer and Ciri alongside the other sorceresses, and only later comes back and apologizes and tries to make up for it. Reading the books made my perspective on Triss change entirely to a negative opinion when before I liked her in the games.

I read all but the last witcher book and while I kinda enjoyed them, I realized towards the end that I was justs force feeding myself. There was just too much pointless dialogue and things just didn't seem to progress toward the goal. There was no gratification in finishing the book preceding The Lady of the Lake and even when I started to read tLotL, I found that is has the same splintered storytelling that had already annoyed me in previous books

Dark Souls: I love the setting in all of its scenarios and I think there is a great variety and all of them are very successful, when the game wants to be beautiful it is and when it wants to be more mundane it also achieves it. I even think that some of its scenarios manage to be as or more oppressive than those of a horror game. Regarding the DLC, I love Artorias, it is one of my favorite bosses in the trilogy. I like the combat system but something I don't like about it is that the enemy AI is sometimes very clumsy to deal with certain strategies such as turning around them and going for an attack from behind. Dark Souls 2: I like Majula, Dragon Shrine and the DLC scenarios, specifically something I liked about the DLC scenarios is that they feel like they are better crafted with alternative paths and clever shortcuts. Another thing I liked was the fight against the Fume Knight, it is my favorite boss in this game. I don't like the combat in this game; Mobility feels weird, straight attack trajectory is unreliable even with lock-on, and several of the enemy attacks hit you even if the animation indicates otherwise. I also don't like the difficulty curve in this game, there are choices that make the beginning of the game the hardest part and most of the time the bosses are much easier than the level that precedes them. Dark Souls 3: I love the pace of this game and the bosses, several of my favorites are in this game like Champion Gundyr, Pontiff Sulyvahn, and Gael. While I liked even the gimmick bosses the one that disappointed me the most was Yhorm the Giant, at least getting his weapon is cool though. Elden Ring: Of the From games I've played this has my favorite combat, I also like the enemies and several of the bosses. One thing I find odd is that it has a lot of really strong tools that are extremely accessible, I think this is where I was constantly debating whether to have an easy time using them or ignore them to make things a little more fun for myself. It's a personal thing but this game made me realize that I don't like open world games; when I was in a dungeon or stuck with a boss I was having a good time but when I was exploring not so much since dodging enemies is very easy.

For demons souls remake I actually love the combat, I like how it feels like it has weight and impact. That being said it couldn’t hurt to implement Elden ring style jumping and charge attacks. What I don’t like however is the way certain items are hidden in either pure white or black world tendency. I like the idea of the system but I still have not 100% the game because of item placements within tendencies. For dark souls 1 I love the lore and the npcs but it’s really starting to show it’s age now. The only complaint I have that isn’t due to graphical limitations or clunky combat is probably the fast travel like you said and also the way covenants work with you losing a rank if you switch to another. Dark souls 2 I dislike the soul memory system for multiplayer and for some reason the equipment durability feels a lot weaker compared to any other game. What I love about DS2 is the build variety and bonfire aesthetics. Dark souls 3 has the best bosses and soundtrack of the dark souls games but I really don’t like a lot of the level design. I also dislike the noticeable lack of poise in comparison the the first two games. I love the lore and soundtrack for bloodborne but after 100% it I despise the chalice dungeons and will probably never play them again, which is sad because queen Yharnam is a fun fight but I’m not grinding 10 hours of chalice dungeons just to face her again. As for Elden ring I love the sheer amount of options you have open to you at most times, the implementation of some of their best combat mechanics and the amount of things there are to do in a single playthrough. I don’t like however the reuse of the same bosses for multiple encounters as well as the catacomb dungeons in general. A way they could’ve spared the repetition of the bosses would be to reuse bosses from their older games, they could’ve brung bosses from bloodborne and DS3 in just to fill those dungeons, I get that they would’ve been called lazy but I still think it would’ve been better than fighting the ulcerated tree spirits for the 7th time

I don't agree with the complain about Mini-bosses because even if they repeat themselves some times, they are mostly presented in various situations that help each combat to feel unique and different. Like the Generals, the first time you fight one of them, it's a 1-on-1 battle in which he teaches you the basics about gameplay and the fact they drop some useful items, and then the second time you have to fight a whole squad of minions plus the General and you have to try to do some stealth to kill everyone; and the third time you fight a General alongside the gunshot guys. Also, there are only 6 Generals in the whole game, 3 are minibosses and the other 3 are later presented as minions in some other situations.
