I've read good things on R2R and thinking about putting it in my AIO sump, supposedly it can harbor bristle worms
@CoralsReef24Ай бұрын
That sounds like an interesting idea! R2R (Reef2Reef) is a great resource for information on reef tanks. Incorporating live rock, rubble, or specific substrates in your AIO (All-In-One) sump can indeed help create a more natural and efficient filtration system, and many aquarists have had success with it. As for bristle worms, they are a common occurrence in reef tanks. While they can sometimes be a nuisance, they are generally considered beneficial as they help break down detritus and uneaten food, contributing to the overall health of the system. Before you go ahead with adding R2R to your sump, make sure to research thoroughly the best practices for your specific setup.

Yes, you're right. I've been going to the Reef store for a few years now and never had an issue with their corals. But this one here, I should have taken a little better look at it while I was at that store. But I was trusting that they were selling me a healthy coral, which I think you're right about this one.

I used to rely on Eco Wavemakers placed on either side of my tank, constantly blasting my corals. However, I made the switch to Maxspect Gyre, setting it at approximately 10% rotation per minute. Now, I enjoy a gentle wave flowing through my tank, keeping my corals content. It's been a year, and my corals seem to thrive under this setup. As long as your return pump ensures enough cycles through the filtration system per hour (turnover rate), you might find that fewer waves suffice. The ideal turnover rate varies depending on your aquarium's size. For instance, in a 100-gallon reef tank, you'd target a flow rate of 1000 to 2000 gallons per hour (GPH) through your filtration system.

tank looks great! I recently picked up a hammer coral and a candy cane. I'm also doing a 15g nano tank(the coralfish12g tank) My candy canes are not doing well, but my hammer is doing well. Have my hammer at the top at 3/10 current and 3/10 wave and is flourishing. Candy cane is a step below, but i'm not sure if it needs less light or if my flow is too high for it. I may move around the rocks in my tank to optimize the light/flow for my coral, but more so need to handle a clownfish fighting problem :( subscribed! love the energy! i also make vids on tanks as well :)
