I have a 2017 model bought from Chicago Music Exchange that was Diver Down paint scheme. Maple body and neck back then and is quite heavy. Had it custom painted to 5150 stripes but instead of red, it is flip flop paint that turns from red to blue to purple. they are fantastic guitars for the money. Paid 550.00 on sale.

Is it doing some kind of digital emulation thing or is it using real pickups? Like the idea of blending an acoustic and electric tone. Trying to decide between this and a Schecter c1/ae Cat's Eye.

Kind of both…there are pickups, but there are also electronics inside that shape the tones.

I have this same guitar but I’ve noticed that the neck pickup has a hum that resembles 60 cycle hum. When I touch the strings it goes away!!! Thing is, no other position has this issue? Does your guitar sound that way? Awesome playing btw!
@EJBGuitar22 күн бұрын
No, mine doesn’t have a hum like that. Strange that yours does, but if touching the strings (or I assume any of the metal parts?) makes it go away, it sure seems like some kind of ground issue to investigate. Check the ground wire going to the trem claw, and see if anything looks loose/disconnected in the control cavity.
@Redeemed.121 күн бұрын
@@EJBGuitarIt was the neck pickup ground wire, it was a bad solder job from the factory. The neck ground came unsoldered from the 5 way selector.

It’s not based on a Baretta. It came before the Baretta. The Baretta is based on IT. Eddie’s 5150 Kramer is this for the most part. The slanted pickup came later. This is actually closer to the 5150 than the Baretta. The original 5150 body was based on a Pacer body but the neck was based on Frankie. The headstock was based on Eddie’s Ibanez. In truth, Eddie’s 5150 Kramer was neither Pacer nor Baretta.

I put the Bigsby on using a Vibramate SG adapter.

The headstock is not true to the original and that is enough to kill it for me. I have owned two of the original night swans and they were very nice guitars. Quite a bit different than the other models which is why I liked it. I have had plenty of Kramers from back in the day. My favorite was always the arch top Stagemaster..

Am I missing something here? I’ve just watched a video about putting a Bigsby on an SG - you talked about it all the way through and you played the SG all the way through without *once* ever actually *using* the Bigsby? Did you put it on for looks or to counteract neck dive? Both valid reasons.
@EJBGuitarАй бұрын
Nah, I’m not a huge trem user…little subtle stuff. I don’t do like rockabilly on a Bigsby! This is a video to basically just highlight the Towner parts and what it would look like using those parts. Luckily none of my SGs have neckdive (I look for that when shopping for them) so I didn’t do it for that…though that could surely help for any that do have it. I don’t deny that I think they look cool as hell though so looks definitely played a part in it. Sorry you came looking for a bunch of Bigsby dive bomb action!
@Arthur_My_DearАй бұрын

I was tempted by the reduced price so I bought the Tour SS--larger body, single cutaway--otherwise exactly the same appointments. Extremely well built and looks great -----but oh dear those pickups are not to my liking at all. Far too harsh and hot for my taste which is a real shame. I'm not into swapping out pickups especially on a semi hollow so I won't be keeping it.
@EJBGuitarАй бұрын
The pickups are one of the main reasons I like mine…nothing like any of the other semi-hollows that I have. They’re great with fuzz too IMO.
@kingstumbleАй бұрын
@@EJBGuitar To each his own. I have four semi hollows--the D'Angelico, a Gibson 335 Dot Reissue, a Guild Starfire and a Tanglewood TSB59. The Tanglewood is the cheapest by a long way but it is my favourite. To my ears it's even more PAF-[ike than the Gibson. I prefer low output, underwound pickups and I would never go near a fuzz. Either clean or just on the edge of breakup via a Zendrive is my "style"-----assuming I have one!

Maybe there is something wrong with yours? Or maybe it’s what you’re playing it through. It’s not a guitar I would use for much other than “80s era” rock…the pickup is good for that, but not for everything. Or maybe it just doesn’t fit your ear and/or playing.

Hi! Nice guitar I love the looks. If you don’t really use the tremolo arm, how is tuning stability? I consider doing the same thing for mine but just to correct neck dive and for the looks. Felt the same with the vibrola.
@EJBGuitar2 ай бұрын
For the way I use the Bigsby, the tuning is fine…I just use it for some light “shimmery” type vibrato! If you don’t use it at all then obviously the tuning stability is great! 😉 The only trem I will really go nuts with is one of my locking Floyd Rose trems.

@trepaniermathieu Mine didn’t have neck dive to begin with, but the weight difference (at least to me) wasn’t very much…the Bigsby itself doesn’t weight all that much and the Towner stuff is VERY lightweight. (I think I mentioned the weights of each part in the video if I remember correctly). If you do have some neck dive, it can only help though right?!?
