OMG, that Piquet 's Brabham was so beautiful!!! What a car!! ❤ What a driver!! 1981 was the year of the First Nelson Piquet 's titles in F1.

Really interesting and strange to see Alesi’s steering wheel hand position at 10 to 2. Looks really unstable, especially on left handers. Orthodox tends to be 15 (quarter) to 3, either side of the wheel for better feel and stability. Those cars though, proper.

I was at this particular race at Kyalami in 1983. After Prost dropped out Piquet dropped back to 3rd place to ensure his car finished the race and gave him his second drivers championship. When he stopped after the race the crowd stormed toward him and he took off running down that long straight with an excited crowd chasing after him!

It's a pity they got rid of that little jump at the final corner.

Crazy. Only the double stacked jersey barriers were between the crashed cars and the people on the other side. No catch fence at all.

Villeneuve had to bite the brake following the orders... He couldn't dare to disobey the Drake 😄but it was ok like this. It's incredible to see the people on the grandstands and on the track while the GP was not yet finished! 😆Unconceivable today!!!
