As long as you have 4 wheel drive you could definitely do this trail. You might tap the skid plates in 2 sections if you are stock but they are not difficult obstacles and very doable in a stock 4Runner..

Fun fact....Schnebly Hill Vista at 3:25 is the spot in the original Vacation movie that the Griswold's discovered Aunt Edna was dead, Clark locks up the brakes, and the family wagon comes to a rest at this very location. It's quite a Hollywood miracle...one moment they're all cruising along I-17 when they discover Aunt Edna is dead and voila the next moment the car comes to a stop 3 miles away at the Schnebly Hill Vista. PS---if you offroad much at all, this trail is not really all that difficult at all in spite of a little bit of a build up in the video. The 4 Runner here was hardly tested at all by this trail...probably the same for the Jeep....lol, Toyota guy here. It is a beautiful drive though as noted in the video.

When submitting the trail to OnX I actually rated it a 7 but the video was already posted. The rock garden hill climb had some pretty big boulders that gave the 4Runner some problems. Based on the OnX rating system with the larger rocks over axle height it warranted the 7. Sounds like you have been on this trail..... What do you drive?

I love this run. The hardest part of Casner is getting a permit. It's a one-way only trail used by the power company to maintain the power lines. I will say that it seems that certain sections might be a bit harder than a 4, then again, that could be because certain parts of the trail are rather "skimpy" and it's a long drop. :)
@CBOffroadAdventures11 күн бұрын

Not the full route i wouls say, when we did it the first rock garden has a big rock with "dead end" written on it, Funtreks and trails offroad has the full route with gps traks you can download, also doesnt look like you took the good way out with "switchback hill" toughest section
We were running out of time so we couldn't get to both loops unfortunately. We will be going back out and starting at Oak Flat campground to go down the switch backs and hit the other side of the lower loop where the rock with dead end is painted on it. I heard the switch backs are not too bad if you are coming down them. Thoughts?
@az4x4taco42011 күн бұрын
@@CBOffroadAdventures still different, the switch backs at the beginning coming down are easy, once you do the first loop you would go to the second loop that has the hard switchback, I wouldn't try it in the 4runner to be honest, we were on 35s with the e locker and had to do like an 8 point turn to get around a huge rock and it's on a cliff edge, this was also 6 years ago and who knows what it's like now...I wish my videos were still available but when I posted them 6 years ago there weren't so many rules on KZbin and they have copyrighted music on them so they can't be viewed, the trail is a legit 8 and you guys probably did what would be considered a 5 or 6, if you do try the whole trail, i wish you the best but, I wouldn't in that rig

I have no problem paying 15 dollars for a state permit, however, it is NOT being used for the conservation of these lands as I can see in this vid the land is so unhealthy with all of the invasive grass. They aren’t doing anything to minimize it, and it’s just waiting to burn again like it did in 2021
@CBOffroadAdventures15 күн бұрын
So....I looked this up and you seem to be totally accurate in regards to the state land trust fund. 95% of the state land trust fund goes to fund schools which I am also okay with. Guess it is the price of admission to enjoy these state land trust areas. I was a little misled when I read, it helps land conservation but they meant by placing rules on the permit application like not shooting in these areas and to be respectful of the land. Glad I am already part of a couple land conservation groups in Arizona where I donate my time to clean up the land. Here is something I found on how the fund is distributed if anyone else is curious www.azleg.gov/Briefs/Senate/ARIZONA%20STATE%20TRUST%20LAND%202022.PDF

You think an 05 CRV can survive the 2nd portion of the trail????
@CBOffroadAdventures22 күн бұрын
I think the section right past the 1st lookout might be a little difficult for your CR-V but that all depends on your experience and comfort level. If you have the AWD version and are used to exploring forest roads I would go to the first look out and check out the road. The road just down from the lookout is the worst of the trail and will give you some indication on if you should move forward or not. If you decide to not keep moving forward you are still able to experience an amazing view of the landscape from that area and it is still worth your time.
