What’s funny is doubles at slower speeds throw me off more than at the fast tempos found in the intermediate and advanced

As impressive as the speed and energy is,it covers up some mistakes in the way you're articulating the rudiments..... Let me use something with quarter notes. It's much more interesting and more musical

Awesome!!! 👍 How long did it take you to play that fast?
@lucacasagranda3806
@lucacasagranda3806 11 ай бұрын
to be honest I've never studied this warmup from slow to fast - I mean the usual way - because I've discovered it when my technique already allowed me to play that fast. Many years spent on other material...rudiments, marching etc...But I really like the sequence and I believe it's a really good way to improve your technique - of course starting slow to gain control on your way to getting fast. Be patient and enjoy the process, the results will certanly arrive! good luck!

Hi Luca, just came by again, it’s always a pleasure both for the ears AND eyes! The thing I struggle most with are.. doubles. 😑 Do you have any tip how to improve proper doubles?
@lucacasagranda3806
@lucacasagranda3806 9 ай бұрын
@@stefanmuller3435 start playing doubles with your fulcrum only (thumb and index)... understand the fact that two strokes are made with just one single wrist movement...it's all about rebound control...when it's done, add the other fingers but don't change anything about the sound and the rhythm...that's the basics! Then you can utilize all the fingers to play stronger doubles but don't do it if you can't play proper doubles with your fulcrum...enjoy and good luck!

Friendly suggestion: Vary the volume, (soft, medium, loud), make left and right hands sound exactly the same, and then this will be more musical and really good (it’s a long time ago so I’m sure you’ve gotten that together)-Tommy seems to play everything loud-that’s not music
