Well I mean, I can’t argue with your results. IMO the Panther does look good, there is some detail lost up top, but it is still visible. The muddy look on the lower hull and wheels came out great though. While this method isn’t exactly for me, I would like to try it. It is also a good starting point for beginners. Teaches them not to over think and over worry, have fun first and foremost.

For those who use this recipe for washes, I gently suggest considering that washes of this type are sensitive to gravity which will cause pooling if you are doing a wash vertically. Please consider applying them in a horizontal orientation. Just a suggestion my friends.

To be really fair : I was at a German Tank Museum and it had every Tank you could imagine to be there and from WW1 until the cold war those tanks were exactly painted like that and let me say : You dont know how realistic that model looks. The Museum i mentioned is in Munster and especially the cold war soviet stuff was painted unbelievably crappy, the welding was even worse then WW2 german tanks.

Wow! That looks awesome. Big fan of your channel. I have been experimenting with your acrylic soap wash. I like the results. I normally use a oil wash. But I am out of thinner. Plus I wanted to try something different. Adding the soap really helps. I may start using this instead of a oil wash. No fumes and easy to clean brushes. Keeps things simple.
@Modkits13126 күн бұрын
That’s awesome to hear you enjoyed the soap wash. :-) The soap may not have the capillary action around small subtle details and won’t blend as well. But it’s fun to experiment with as a weathering/wash paint that’s homemade.

Thanks for inspiring me getting into this hobby. I just built my first model using this video as guideline. It turned out ok but nowhere close to yours. I'm using vallejos and i find they dry up faster than i'd like them too sometimes before i'm done and i have to mix up more paint for the last few bits. Do you face the same problem?
@Modkits131Ай бұрын
I typically don’t, as I use a relatively small amount of paint when painting the first layers. I’d recommend buying/creating a wet palette or purchase a paint retarder to help slow down the drying time.

Hi. Yet again another stunning paintjob. I look at what you do and then I look at the way I do it. I always try to use the correct colours first the I use the acrylics to weather it down and soften the starkness of the colours. It does take time though. I am currently working on a Matida in the Caunter desert scheme. I am now at the toning down stage with weathering. Well done on a beautiful model. Thanks.

Do you thin the paint used for the scratches/chipping?
@Modkits1314 ай бұрын
I do, but not as thin as when I’m applying the first layer of base paint. It has to be semi-thick in order to be precise. Also be sure to remove excess paint on the brush before adding chips/scratches.

What is that liquid you add before the hand soap?

Just soap and water from the faucet. You can use acrylic thinners to achieve a fluid level for large flat surfaces or detailed areas. Especially a capillary action effect.

Hello there, it is very very noce video, especially for beginners like me, I got one question, can you please tell me how can I ise and what is purpose of Tamiya clear x-22 paint? What is purpose of it, is it like vanishing? Thank you.😊
@Modkits1314 ай бұрын
Yes! Tamiya’s (X-22 Clear) is a lacquer based/acrylic varnish. It is meant for sealing in models for a glossy finish or can be used for weathering to replicate fresh mud effects. Modelers also spray a gloss varnish on their finished paint job before applying decals. Next they seal the decals with another layer to protect it. Finally using a soft sandpaper to remove the decal film and matting down the decal.
@giorginakashidze87974 ай бұрын
@@Modkits131 thank you mate, So it is not mixed with other paints for deep appearence, i mean, if I mix x-22 with other paints will it give them deeper appearence? it is used just on surface for extra protective and varnishing layer. Am I correct?

Sadly, there is not much coming out of Disney Star Wars that is worth watching .... Rogue One and Mando S1/2 are really the only thing good enough to call Star Wars (I hear Andor is good, but have not watched it... turned totally apathetic to Star Wars since Disney has ruined it, and that takes a special talent to kill this guy's love of Star Wars).

A very creative and original technique. How do you avoid removing the underlying acrylic with the acrylic weathering?
@Modkits1314 ай бұрын
@@mikebalis9963 You can use a protective varnish of any matte/satin/gloss of your choice. But for this case in the video, I didn’t use a varnish to protect it.

@@Modkits131 do you think the soapy water you mixed in the acrylic wash made the difference?
@Modkits1314 ай бұрын
With subtle applications and layering the soapy wash helps me have control over the surface. But I overdid the weathering in the end personally. It looked way better in the beginning. But enamels and oils are better for full control weathering as you can remove the unwanted excess or to build up gradually.

It is really beautiful, but I want to ask how do you know which color you have to use or mix together?by your experience ?
@Modkits1315 ай бұрын
It usually comes in experience with the colors, see what mixes well with lights and darks. Of course it helps to look at a color wheel or to purchase a pre made mix. But it’s fun to experiment and see how your results appear in the end. Examples: Black/Yellow = Olive Drab Green/Red = Brown Red/Yellow = Orange
