I’d rather support the US car industry (Tesla, Ford)

I’ll admit it, I was a Toyota Super Fan! But now I’ve bought a second hand Tesla, there’s no going back. Toyota hybrids saved me fuel and money and helped me be Green(er) wfor 12 years before I could afford a Tesla, but they are clearly now not the future!!!

EVs are ideal for city transport but are inferior to ICEVs for longer journeys because of shorter range, longer recharging times, lack of charging infra-structure and higher price. A self-charging hybrid offers all the advantages of an ICEV and many of the advantages of an EV and can be manufactured at a lower price than either because it only needs a smaller engine and a much smaller battery. Hybrids are selling the most quickly so it seems to me this will prove the most popular choice for at least the next few years if not decades. I can't see any advantages in buying a pure BEV. Am I missing something here?

I did a little digging because Buffet's views regarding Tesla are well known. It also seemed strange to me that he would co sider EVs a threat because that is not how insurance works. Anyway, here is the video where he talks about automomous driving, Tesla and the hypothetical effect of fewer but far more expensive accidents on insurance rates: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2eTdmZojZefftEsi=QYrVt5km8CiPYh4h

I bought some share of Xiaomi last week. I want to buy more on the next downturn in share price. Back in the 1990s, I bought a ton of Geely stock when they stopped making refrigerators and started making cars. I am up almost 1000% in profit from Geely. I think Xiaomi will also do extremely well based on:1) how these vehicles are made, 2) the fact that they are a company with a wealth of background in electronics 3) they have deep pockets money-wise. BYW, I owned stock till their cellphones were blacklisted in the US. I wish now that I did not sell the stock. If you don't gamble, you can't win. The greater the risk, the greater the potential reward.

I had a 3 week holiday in China, and I can tell you that the traffic is crazy over there and the drivers are no better especially in Guangzhou where they would cut you off just to get ahead in traffic. I was amazed that none of the taxis we hired were not in a collision with the car cutting us off and yet the driver had cat like reflexes and didn't seem bothered being cut off. All in all China was a great experience more people should go there and see how 1.4 billion people live in harmony with each other even with the frenetic lives they have .

Come on Sam. You have made 1000 videos now, surely you understand by now that: - Watts is instantaneous power - Watt-hour is the volume of charge, ie the capacity, - gravimetric energy density is Watt-hr per kg. Please get it right. You are taking about watt-hours and watt-hour per kg here, not watts. Journos who know nothing about battery storage technology make this error.

The whole Ionity network will be able to give 350kW. So that would be pretty ok for a P5. Also beginning to seen 400kW-chargers in Sweden. Also new Tesla chargers are at lest +300kW. (V4) Andnthe V3 is 250kW and will probably giv3 a good chargingsession as well. And even if you use a charger that only can gove 150kW the charging time will be pretty low since of the totally flat charging curve it would give. 😀

Hey Sam, do you remember your promise to take down your channel if Tesla sacked 'tens of thousands' of workers? Do you think the latest round of job cuts will take it over 20,000? That will then meet the 'tens of thousands' definition.

Sounds like the "Steam train channel" doesn't like the jet airplane because it is lacking a steam whistle. I absolutely prefer the acceleration noise of an EV - sounds and feels a bit like an airplane just before takeoff.

I’d rather support the Korean car industry. For example, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a ripper. It addresses many problems reported by previous owners. Why support China when they toy with the Australian export market, acting as bullies and ignoring international trading rules?

Fires in EV's Li-Ion are common. They burn MUCH hotter. And emit huge amounts of gases. Your promoting EV's so you play them up as much as possible.

Musk doesn’t make rash decisions. Musk already received at least a billion from American taxpayers. He probably isn’t happy with so many chargers not working all the time. Then you have so few electric cars being sold. Why would they keep the charger systems going at the same rate. There’s also a chance that he’s waiting for Ford and GM to chip in.
