Surely these accommodation blocks couls be used to house immigrants. No doubt they would complain that they aren't sufficiently good but we National Service soldiers were delighted at such opulence - & we had a right to be in the UK!!

Rudyard Lake Hotel, now that is haunted I have seen it with my own eyes in the Bar lunch time, a glass swept from a table and smashed on the floor in front of me and the gentleman sitting at the table it was on ?

I was stationed here from the opening in 1957 & worked at the Central Vehicle Depot adjacent as Corporal Progress Clerk following the progress of 'B' vehicles through the workshops etc to collection by army units across the UK. We were also responsible for the preparation of 'B' vehicles for army units throughout Europe. In 1958 the Aden Crisis occurred which necessitated all vehicle to be repainted Sand colour. In addition to army personnel the depot also employed civilians who came in from Derby & Uttoxeter. The accommodation for soldiers was first class as prior to the opening we had been barracked at the Nissen hut camp at Egginton - now a caravan sales site.

From what I understand the budget of the boarding school was mismanaged and closed in 1987. Everyone that went to this boarding school had a different experience. I can only speak for my self. Most of my time spent at Cotton was special. Made long life friends!

Worked there in 88, 92 as labourer, then 2010 as security officer when place was closed for holidays, was very creepy on nights as machines still running and lights were off, took 90 mins to walk around every room. I took around 150 photos as I knew place was closing for good. Actually took photos of 3 ghosts once near 4.00 on video.

Brockton hall is or was haunted, iI believe it has now become a golf club. My grandmother saw a lady dressed in a white evening gown crossing the landing, on enquiring if they had guests that evening she was told it was the lady in white who haunted the house but she was not a problem.

The Black Horse, me and my mates were regulars there when we were 16. I also remember the night of the knife fight in the Lamb by Hungarians who escaped from the Russian forces. We were regulars in the Rising Sun and often went in the Star.

Hi Tom. Bring up an a sea chart for the Thames Area and you will find it on a prohibited sea area, then contact the Thames and Medway port authorities and they will give all information on all seaway and dangerous sea areas. It is marked on the chart as a black and red danger all around bouy. and all information on Wikipedia. Due to the danger involved it cannot be destroyed and the R/NAVY and MOD are still looking for safer and alternate solutions to avert the dangerous consequences. As it is only a few miles off shore the International Maritime Laws are mandatory world wide. Contact the RYA in Southhampton (UK) main offices and they will give you all information an the dangers and other contact numbers. It is also known to all mariners world wide who will be using the sea areas. Go on to youtube and bring up ship wrecks UK and enter the name of the ship and you will find out all the other information needed. The explosion is calculated to be the same as a small nuclear bomb and the aftermath will take a lot of clearing up and rebuilding. Grazie.
