I'm trying to understand the hand held camera scenes and was wondering if someone was recording a private screening of some sort of private event from a private collector who is unwilling to have their film print scanned.

@SuperCartoonist The footage is from a reel of assorted clips in the Czech Film Archive. It was screened at a convention in 1995, which I believe this camcorder footage may be from.

One day hopefully someone will post the final of 250 hydro in 1977 in Hinton Wv. Id love to see the final heat when my dad won the nationals in 250. 44 entries, largest field ever. I wasnt born yet ( concieved later that night) but ive heard so many stories, he was the nobody too. Or underdog i should say... on launch of the final heat his prop caught the launch stand and they had to scramble to get a wheel on it, he launched 1 second before the 1 min gun, he told me how he just pulled the pipes to catch up, came around wide open from the outside and flew past everyone else on the start, got out front and led the whole way. Miss my dad!

I will have to go look then! R12 was Howard, and C87 was Fuchslin. Seebold was world famous by time i was born and then racing in the 80s, 90's, 2k's and further.... lol. Fun fact about Seebold, after this, he later took Dick Ponds spot driving for Marshall Grant, the bass player for Johnny Cash. But Billy is pretty much my hero, over 900 wins in his racing career. Cant believe there are no youtube videos dedicated to his racing career like Muncy has.@unreeled8184

The film "Operation I and Shurik's Other Adventures" is so popular in the Soviet Union that the director and one of the screenwriters, Leonid Gaidai, and the other screenwriters, Yakov Kostyukovsky and Maurice Slobodskoy, are applauded everywhere. Since the country is inside the information network, no one suspects that the screenplay, characters, director's work of this movie is plagiarism and theft. The original of the film was "The Rogue Song", which was awarded the "Oscar" film award in 1930. The director and screenwriters who plagiarized the American romantic musical directed by Lionel Barrymore were unapologetic after the fact. There is no full movie made in America. It was shot on 35mm film, which is highly flammable nitrocellulose. However, this does not answer the question of why the copies of the film disappeared. Why did America suddenly decide to completely eliminate the film? "Why should a movie, which is an ordinary love story, be suddenly deleted and all its tapes destroyed" has been asked for a long time and every explanation is given. Does anyone know the real reason?
@unreeled81844 ай бұрын
Not sure. Heard several stories but i wonder why MGM never leased this film to television. Was MGM's vault copy already bad by the 1950s that they couldn't copy it? Or did they not think there was not enough interest in reshowing the operetta? The 1965 MGM vault fire May have destroyed their only copy. Tibbett's personal copy was also junked at some point due to deterioration. Another rumor mentioned a copy was sent to Germany in the 1960s. Lots of neglect along the way.
@robcat207512 күн бұрын
"America" didn't decide to "completely eliminate the film". America was never in charge of this film. MGM, a private studio, was in charge of it. Preserving old films is an expensive undertaking with special handling and special refrigerated, fire-supressing rooms required and MGM didn't always have the financial means to do that for every film it had ever made. In addition, the proper way to store these film wasn't fully understood until recent years. "Rogue Song" wasn't highly successful on its first release and there was little interest in seeing it again in the years afterward so no additional copies were made. Over time the originals decayed or got lost in fires. There are numerous lost Soviet and Russian films. Did you decide to eliminate those?

I remember watching this when it first aired (1983) on WPNE-TV 38 -- the Green Bay channel for what was then the Wisconsin Educational TV Network. In the mid 80s WETN became Wisconsin Public Television. This program was put together by the staff at WPNE. Today the various Wisconsin PBS stations outside the Milwaukee area are little more than satellites of WHA-TV in Madison. One thing to note in this program. Lambeau Field looks much different today than when this program was put together in 1983. The first sets of sky boxes would not be added to Lambeau until 1985.
