I always found it quite overrated for the price. It's obviously nice but not 4 times nicer than other whiskey's out there which the price is.

I founded Redbreast 12 first underwhelming. Returned 6 months later to the bottle and this time i realize what all the hype was about. So its same as with wines: it needs to breath and be opened for a while before tasting its real notes. Smooth & complex, is all i can say about the redbreast 12. It has to be the most exciting whiskey i ever tasted!!

The Redbreast 12 cast strength is a "God" Whiskey, If they go well from here heaven knows what magical drams they will produce. The blossoming future of Irish whiskey is in good hands.

Wow! I am so impressed with your crystal clear explanation of Redbreast Wood policy which took you just 1:31 minutes. So, just to be absolutely clear, your Spanish Sherry casks are all specially ordered from Spain to be made from Quercus Robur Oak wood rather than the majority of European Sherry casks, which are actually made in the cooperages in Spain from Quercus Alba (the same type Oak as the Standard American Barrel) but grown in Europe (or imported from the US). Your description of Dried Fruit, Raisins, Prunes and Fruitcake is excellent. Obviously these flavours are coming from the toasted oak of the First-Fill Sherry casks whose pores have been impregnated with sherry.?

The Yellow Spot, whilst nice is far too expensive. In the £70 to £80 bracket the discerning whisky shopper can do a lot better in terms of bang for buck.
@glennhooper88673 жыл бұрын
I strongly disagree there, I haven't yet found a better value whiskey.
@uilleachan3 жыл бұрын
@@glennhooper8867 Sorry to respectfully disagree. The last bottle of yellow spot purchased last Autumn/Fall cost me £75. Now it was good, exemplifying all I love in Irish whiskey, however, for the same money I can and do buy better whisky, in some cases much better whisky.
@glennhooper88673 жыл бұрын
@@uilleachan I think in the realm of Irish whiskey, Yellow Spot is great value when you factor in other similarly priced ones. Redbreast 15 costs about €100 here in Ireland, which is almost twice the price of the 12 year old but only marginally better. Red Spot costs about €130 but just isn't worth it. I think the Bushmills single malts are also a bit overpriced.
@uilleachan3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree that Irish whiskey is over priced in general at the moment, the exceptions in my opinion are Red Breast 12 and Green Spot, I think they represent decent value. I'm coming at this from a Scottish perspective of course. To me whisky is all the same, with or without the "e" and regardless of what it is and where it's from, it's a gèidhealtachd drink which includes both Ireland and Scotland, but the whisk(e)y has to stand on its own merits and price is a big part of that. We're well used to brand attempts at faux exclusivity with premium price tags to match, I can see the same cynical ploy playing out across the North Channel but it's up to us, the discerning drammertist, to let them know our thoughts by not buying. They won't . They have tried that with clothes food and other products .even top car manufacturers have toyed with short cuts and failed miserably there is no substitute for time I think the man made the master blender made that clear and to be honest even to suggest what you have suggested the is giving credit to bluff and a voice to devaluing quality

There is a significant difference between Grinsell's Wood and the the Bluebell Forest bottling. Grinsell's Wood is hands down the best Irish I have ever had and top 3 whiskies ever. Bluebeel Forest is amazing but Grinsell's Wood blows it away.

Yeah, tumblers? Is this a statement that 32-year-old whiskey doesn't need tulip-shaped glasses? Ist the Glencairn and Tuath glass claims being ignored here? Would love some clarification here.
