This movie was excellent, right along the line of The last Starfighter, and Freddie Jones was just as well. What the hell? I just scrolled down after making this post to see The Last Starfighter music. Weird!

I remember well the first time I saw this movie. The very first impression was the uniqueness of the music. Nothing like this had EVER been heard before in a symphonic movie music score. I remember thinking: "WHOA! This is way different then anything heard before!"

I'd just be happy with another re-edit of the movie - especially with Lysette Anthony's voice put back in - even if they have to re-record her now,. I don't see why not Legend has Multiple versions as does Blade Runner.

@cujoedaman8 жыл бұрын
Like I replied below: There are some definite nods to Wrath of Khan, you can also hear a bit of Search for Spock, Aliens, and even Rocketeer, all movies he's done music for :D
@loot68 жыл бұрын
Its more than a 'nod'...come on. James Horner is well known for copying himself. Huge sections of it are basically the same sections of music from Star Trek just tweaked a bit. This is not his most extreme though, there are many movies where he's literally just lifted the exact same section from another of his movies. "you can also hear a bit of Search for Spock, Aliens, and even Rocketeer, all movies he's done" Yep! I've no doubt you can hear something from another of his movies in every other movie. All his movies are rehashed scores used again and again and again. Not saying its 100% but so much of it is used again and again...either exactly the same or tweaked slightly. Watch 48 Hours and then Commando for example....well actually the examples are too numerous to even bother listing.

You jumped on the wrong (fire) horse on this one. Stylistically Horner used both Britten and Prokofiev as insperation for Star Trek 2 and Krull, but this is one of his most original (and long-lined) themes he ever did. Nothing about the melody or cord progressions has anything to do with ST2. It does not remotely go under the category of Horner plagiarism. Now if you want to talk about other themes or cues from the film, then I'm sure there are overlaps.
@loot67 жыл бұрын
You haven't listened very well. Try listening to the tracks I mentioned side by side with this. Its very easy for me to identify it because my ear can identify similar sounds and music very accurately. I can even recognise sound fx that are used again and again, never mind music. This is definitely Horner re-using many parts of his music. To be honest there aren't many Horner scores that don't.
@90lancaster7 жыл бұрын
Let me put it this way if someone was making a Star trek theme super cut and slapped lumps of this score in it - it wouldn't seem at all out of place.

An awesome score can sometimes make a mediocre movie just a bit more fun and for Krull, it's so true. It's not the most coherent of movies and has some pretty big plot holes, but overall, it's a fun movie and the score certainly makes it even more fun to watch, it really gets you into the movie :D

I thought, at the time that the film came out, that it was a Star Wars prequel - you know "Their son shall rule the Galaxy"; I thought Colwyn and Lyssa would turn out to be Darth Vader's parents! Well, it could still happen, with Lyssa being sold into slavery off-world and being renamed Shmi Skywalker...😁
