I thought, at the time that the film came out, that it was a Star Wars prequel - you know "Their son shall rule the Galaxy"; I thought Colwyn and Lyssa would turn out to be Darth Vader's parents! Well, it could still happen, with Lyssa being sold into slavery off-world and being renamed Shmi Skywalker...😁

I saw this film in San Diego during the summer of 1983, in an old-fashioned theater with a single giant screen. I was driving by one night, saw the marquee and went in. The whole theater was decorated for just this movie. Part of a great vacation after getting out of Navy bootcamp. And yes, the score is a thrilling wonder. Ah, memories...

Without a doubt the greatest music score ever written for any film FULL STOP ! Take a bow Mr James Horner ! Some say it was worthy of a better film - I'd say it was completely worthy of 'Krull' ! (btw, is it just me, or is this film becoming ever more cult-ish by the year ?) Will never tire of it, that's for sure - especially now I have the HD version !

When they made fantasy movies in those days they made great ones. Now the market is so saturated with them they've gone done a great deal in quality and production. Also casting wasn't about finding the next young and inexpierenced young actor or actress as we have witnessed with the Twighlight Saga etc.

one of the movies of my childhood. but the best moment came years later in world of warcraft. we stood in onyxias lair and as i looked around, i become aware of a little programmers gimmick. the shape of the glaive in the lava. I just turned to the main tank and said: "Hey, why didn't you just grab in the lava, put that glaive out and we show that dragon, how the boss is." Now... that would truly be an epic weapon.

Since I was a kid I have always adored the adroit and esoteric brilliance of such astonishing accomplishment of various Orchestras .... When I first saw this film in the mid - 80's with my family I was about 7 years old. Though I was equally taken in by the movie - the scores of this film elucidate to I the pinnacle of a resplendently well planned OST altogether. The movie was indeed spectacular and shall forever be a cinema gem that I shall know personified my childhood dreams.

This is one case where the music outshone the movie by far. The movie was pretty good in it's day. However the music was and still is more epic than the movie by far. It really was a kick ass score! I am a professional tubist and I can speak for the tuba in this movie.....the tuba rocked! I bought the movie JUST for the tuba solo that was in the score.

During the whole film the princess and the beast are debating whats stronger power or love. He has that line where he says "love is fleeting, power is eternal" the princess insists it the other way around. In the final fight the Glaive which is power does little to stop the beast but the fire the represent their love is what eventually kills him therefore proving her right.

An awesome score can sometimes make a mediocre movie just a bit more fun and for Krull, it's so true. It's not the most coherent of movies and has some pretty big plot holes, but overall, it's a fun movie and the score certainly makes it even more fun to watch, it really gets you into the movie :D

Would seem like it but no. See when he got the Glaive he was traversing through part of a cavern that was surrounded by Molten Lava, yet he didn't break a sweat. Then when he got to the spot where the Glaive rested he put his hand through lava which only set his sleeve on fire. He was fireproof ergo he could control fire.
