The hoops on a bull bar protect the radiator and engine, not just the lights. You have made a steel bumper which will not protect you from a 6 foot tall roo weighing 100kg when you’re doing 110. It will take out the engine and likely go straight through the windscreen.

With the measurements do I have the airbags deflated
@andrewjones-productions12 күн бұрын
Not being in Australia or an Australian, I have often wondered what the general height of the coupler on off-road trailers are. This video and the comments section was especially useful in ascertaining that information as a general guide. It seems that there is some variety depending on the caravan or off-road trailer. Incidentally, the average height for an European trailer is roughly 44cm. This does vary slightly give or take a few centimetres, but I don't think that there is any trailer that goes as low as 35cm and I'm not sure how legal that would be in Europe.
@johnbroekman711919 күн бұрын
It's a Bummer the Caravan manufactures arn't getting the heights correct then, some of the Off road caravans have extreme height which would require engineering change if you've already purchased it. I asked for the Hitch to be installed inside the Draw Bar( plate under Chassis) instead of on top and that dropped it to suit these heights, had to pay extra though .

lol my 1500 ram did exactly the same thing. Through a bunch of com codes. 8 months out of its first 12 months it spent in the service center and they could not find the problem. They ended up changing the whole wiring harness behind the dash. I picked it up from the dealership brand new and did less then a week later it was in the pdr to cape York towing a van did not do any crazy off road track it just can’t handle the corrugated roads. Eats utes for breakfast 😂😂😂. Currently waiting for it to go to court as the dealership will not give me a new car. Spend 100k on. Car and it don’t work

Do you recommend lowering the air bags on the van on corrugations?
@CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRYАй бұрын
Hi, leave the air bags at the recommended ride height. This will give you the most stroke in your shock absorbers and full travel in suspension arm. Simply reduce pressures in your tyres as you would your tow vehicle.

Well done lads , producing quality products and testing these products in the environment that these products were designed to be used in Also standing behind these products with a good spare parts network. Preparation & regular checks is definitely very important. It's time to go back to Virginia for some well-earned R& R😅

One thing being an engineer in a shop and getting feedback from customers. Another being out there yourself. Fellow who said when he designs next part he will take into account how it can be changed in the middle of the bush with flies and grease, laying flat on your back in the dirt. He is a much wiser man now. All of you are. As @michaeldallimore8590 said, that's why we trust Cruisemaster. It's tested not just theory. Well done. Retired mechanic/machinist in SW Sydney who will never go this far off the track, but my neighbour with XT suspension does. We just replaced wheel bearings (with Timken) and seals (both from SKF) today. Grease everywhere on backing plate when back seal edged out of hub during 40K trip over 5 months in the back of never never and smeared grease on the brake linings but today it cleaned off (properly) with copious brake clean and elbow grease, then some emery cloth - no grease left on/in linings.

Looks like driving on a heavily used landfill access road in an empty tipper, for hours at a time. Several minutes back to the gate is definitely enough for me😁! Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.
@bobhudson6659Ай бұрын
It's strange but not unexpected. Roads that you thought were going to be the toughest weren't but ones that supposed to be half reasonable were not. Still you were out to prove your suspensions and you put your money where your mouth is. Your suspensions are not cheap but they are excellent and have a proven track/tested record. Would recommend your gear to anyone who wants/needs to listen. From retired mechanic/machinist who maintains neighbour's XT suspension on his 2.8 tonne ATM single axle van. Logged 70K and has done a lot of the roads you have travelled and never had an issue. Jim also drives to the conditions and we maintain suspension here in SW Sydney as per your company's recommendations. Jim still carries spare bearing kits and grease and he has the basic knowledge how to replace units if he has to though I would prefer that we do it together at home base as required. Jim also knows how to use his torque wrench and what to check, including wheel nuts.

I think it is the wheels being airborne between the tops of the corrugations and picking up speed momentarily, confusing the Ram's stability control systems. Wheel speed sensors are telling it things that don't make sense to it. It assumes a fault. We have a 4x4 Sprinter and need to turn the stability control off on bad corrugations. If you have it on, the indication light flickers and it does some weird braking. Turn the system off and it's fine.

We are always looking at improvements with our fastner systems so all feedback is valued. If you look at what we've been able to do with our fastner systems over the last few years we are definately going in the right direction for trouble free towing!

Have seen a few cruise master suspensions lose their bolts. You need to have a hole near the nut through the bolt for a clip or split pin so they don't come apart.

Enjoying what you’re doing and the challenges your having. How’s the Toyota 300 going, has there been any issues?
@CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRYАй бұрын
Dust ingress was probably the biggest issue on these roads which was unpleasant but not critical. Otherwise the 300 went pretty well overall.

@kayrushton11082 ай бұрын
Lived in the bush all my life. The one thing that kills caravans is comfortable vehicles. People drive way faster thinking it’s not that rough because it’s smooth in the vehicle when actually your driving just at the speed to destroy your van. The gibb isn’t that bad you need to drive the Sandover highway northern section 200 I’m of hell 🤪🤪🤪

Can someone tell me why MT's (Mud Terrains) are good for the outback, and did I see that they had the trailer tyres up to 45psi on the corrigations! After over 20 year of travelling all over, I find it difficult to believe that such high pressure is good for the typre or vehicle. 25 to 30 psi with Light Truck All Terrains would also be my pick. Not so noisy, cheaper and last longer.

Better to specific the chassis manufacturers to reinforce cross member for swing arm brackets, thickness and larger member
@CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRY2 ай бұрын
We make available to all our customers design recommendations / specs for chassis when fitting out systems. This being a prototype on a trailer built in house there is no one to blame but ourselves! But thats part of the mission, push things to their breaking point and improve on the products from there!
@ab74062 ай бұрын
@@CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRY Notice a few single axle vans cracking cross member, why as Stress and load. If was dual axle, then wouldn’t have happened. That’s why needs more engineering for single axle swing arms.

Why did you guys De-badge the Titanium Caravan?
@Caesar-salad-MM2 ай бұрын
Good question...
@CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRY2 ай бұрын
This is a caravan we purchased for product testing and to demonstrate new products at events. We simply wanted to represent the Cruisemaster Brand and R.A.T. Run as dominately as possible. There is still some Titanium branding around the van and dont shy away from who the manufacturer is if asked. Certainly no knock on Titanium Caravans.
