It amazes me how people argue that disc-rot isn't a real thing and just something made up by "industry people trying to stop us from owning games." Also, Sonic Adventure was the last Sonic game I ever bought for a new console. I despised the game, lol. I loved Sonic, but when he started going off screen and I had to dodge stuff? Just kind of annoyed me too much. I had a good number of these games on Dreamcast, but back in the day I had no way to play my Dreamcast anymore so I gave it and all my games to a friend. Then I found Retrotink later. :( So much regret but at least he was playing it with his kids and stuff.

14:35 SEGA Rally 2 has two graphics modes actually It has a performance mode as well which takes some things away and some effects away to maintain a more stable Frame-rate It's a combination of button presses at the start screen, after ya do them, you will hear a chime and then hit start and the graphics should be a bit lowered to maintain a higher Frame-rate 😅

All of Fumito Ueda's games are classics but I've always loved ICO the most , I bought It on launch day In 2001 and Immediately knew It was special and still Is , the melancholic dreamlike atmosphere Is surreal and arguably more potent than any other game I've ever played.

The Dreamcast footage is a little washed out, try to calibrate the black levels so black looks black and not dark grey. Aso the Code Veronica footage looks more colorful, with better contrast on Ps2, maybe because black level on the Dreamcast footage is not set properly.

Thank you for making this video dude! I still play PS3 to this day on a regular basis. Thank you for giving the PS3 some love it deserves even after all these years. It really was the best time for gaming for everyone PS and Xbox alike. The pure variety of games, exclusives on both ends and the push on graphics and mechanics. In my personal opinion FF13 is by far the best looking game on that generation.

I think the best thing you can do for a Dreamcast, these days, is install an optical drive emulator. You may not want to do this with your childhood Dreamcast, for sentimental reasons, but the Dreamcast isn't as insanely priced in the collector market as the PS2. You should be able to acquire a second hand Dreamcast to mod. All that said, of course, emulation is a thing, and we live in a world where the NVidia Shield TV exists. Probably the perfect Dreamcast emulation device. If you don't want to perform surgery on a Dreamcast, emulating it on the Shield TV is perfectly acceptable.

At the time the dreamcast was literally out of this world, a super computer or something, but is funny how when the ps2 got launch the dreamcast graphics got old and it´s games too, the ps2 games that came on blue CDs look like dreamcast games, but the DVD games looks far superior in textures and effects, on the hardware aspect the dreamcast look good but when you play it you can see that it was a rushed console, the saturn feels way better, the dreamcast controller is HORRIBLE, and feels cheap, the console is very noisy, everybody thought they got a failed unit cause the natural sound of the disc drive, as a console is a good console but it came too late, it might have survived but needed more marketing, better games and maybe a 2.0 version to really compete against the gamecube, ps2 and xbox

Twice Sony took the lead of game consoles because of movies not the games or hardware. Dreamcast in game play was as good or better than ps2 cutscenes. Really a shame. To be fair though Blu-ray players were really bad in general about updates which Sony was very good about. Spending 400 on a Blu-ray player then having to wait for the company to push an update so you can play a new movie was ridiculous. Ps3 really just as a Blu-ray player was a better buy than many dedicated players of the era it supported most features and had frequent updates.

Your knowledge and analysis on legacy games and audio-visual electronics always impresses me. I had a Dreamcast that I loved, but I lived in an area where it seemed like games for the Dreamcast were almost never available. Even the rental places rarely got titles in. It was an absolute shame because the games that did get released looked awesome back in the day. I hope that everything is going well. I have been watching some of your lives with Elder Ring. When you were over three hours into the battle with Malenia and your wife was watching and wanting to start her Friday night, I was empathizing with you. lol We've all been there.

Good to see the pixels. There are several Sega fanboys showing bullshots (with 8xAA or more) claiming that they were real time, but in fact it's an 480p image and has a lot of aliasing. Nothing wrong with that.

Not really. It lost due to the high expectations for the PS2. Also, both the Dreamcast and the PS2 (both in hardware and software) were designed keeping in mind rumors and known-facts regarding the GameCube project and then the Xbox project. So even though the Dreamcast was discontinued, the GameCube and the Xbox competed against it. Thanks!

Ready 2 Rumble and Ready 2 Rumble Round 2 have great facial features and crisper graphics compared to the blurry ps2 version. The one that is still crying about how they really Won and is doing nothing to unite the Country but pushes for division. That little monster.

I wanted a Dreamcast when it was released but I had lost faith in Sega. The short life of the Sega CD, 32X and Saturn in Europe meant I didn’t want to take the risk on the Dreamcast. I bought one a few months ago so now finally own one. It’s as good as I thought it would be and love it.

I was curious in Dreamcast, and saw it in action at somebodies house. Looked really great, and surprised me a lot. But I was already hooked by PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 by that point, and was frustrated by Sega's Saturn and 32x disappointment. It's a shame. Honestly, providing Sega pledge to support and stick to any new consoles they release, then I'd happily return to Sega again. Microsoft and Sony's modern consoles aren't as exciting compared to as they used to be.

I often wonder why SEGA gets stick for that more than others. The CD and 32X were optional addons, but PlayStation Move not withstanding, the PS Vita and PS TV weren't. And people let it slide every time. I mean, the only game Sony gave us Vita fans was Uncharted Golden Abyss, but people still crave a new Vita, while SEGA at least gave the CD and even 32X some support yet lost all trust from everyone. I think people don't deserve a new SEGA system honestly. Though given how SEGA was "the arcade at home" and the state of arcades today, I can't see SEGA being the same if they did come back. Not if they wanted to last anyway.

@@BlueEyedVibeChecker Sega CD and 32 received a handful of games, of those.. ports besides what.. 2 games (I can only think of sonic CD). Even though the vita was a commercial failure, it went on to receive a shitton of Japanese support somewhat like the Saturn did. PS move was a gimmick to capitalize on the wii's success but unlike the add-ons for genesis the PS4 was a commercial success outselling the Genesis 3 to 1.. PS TV and PS portal are some WTFs.. sega could have survived had the Genesis sold like the PS4 did.
