oh nooooo :( damn I'm sorry to tell you this but the original Resident Evil 4 on game cube uses tank controls still. its just in 3d .... you cant strafe and have to stop moving to shoot and have quick turn just like the re1 remake on cube. the reason they opted for this control scheme was because they wanted it to still feel like a resident evil game.

@@maodijong3661 No, they did not. EVERY SINGLE version of RE4 uses the exact same "tank controls" and "turret aiming" system RE is known for. Just goes to show that most zoomers are literal hypocrites not even knowing what they're talking about. The nu-RE demakes were totally ruined by the OTS design and free movement.

PS2 looked different and even Xbox did too from GameCube. Dreamcast too ofc. PS2 normally looked the worst but sometimes it tied or beat the GameCube. Dreamcast looked nice. Sometimes GameCube was best looking but if they didn't release the game for xbox or PC. PS2 was worse looking. Same games on consoles looked rather different from each other

I will forever miss being able to play Windwaker on my old Gamecube. Windwaker really is the greatest game of all time that I have ever played, just for the sheer amount of memories it gave me with my Dad. Playing in his room until late at night and he would always fall asleep way before I did, so I just turned the volume down and played until my eyes literally gave in. I basically know the whole game in and out and I haven't played it in more than 20 years now, I'm gonna be 30 next month, I miss it so much man. Everytime I see clips of it and listen to the amazing OST it feels just like back then. Incredible what a game can make you feel. TY for this video and showing a lot more people what the magic was all about

@yanceyboyz
@yanceyboyz 5 ай бұрын
@@VideoGameShowcase halo was 30fps and had very smooth walls and floors with nice textures. Metroid prime had bump mapping, complex environments with way more being rendered and ran at 60fps. It's not as clean cut as, a. is better than b. Twilight princess is the best looking GameCube game and the fire dungeon in that game looks better than most Xbox games. I'd argue Fzero gx at 16:9, 480p 60fps is also up there with the best of the generation put out.

@yanceyboyz
@yanceyboyz 4 ай бұрын
@@crestofhonor2349 that's not true. You need to go look at some specs. The GameCube was more capable in multiple areas, bump mapping being one of them. Look at halo, beautiful game but flat walls with nice textures, now look at metroid prime and find me a flat wall, you can't, the levels are fully 3D modelled. There is a reason the 360 used newer versions of the GameCube architecture and not the original Xbox. Both were absolute power houses but if you're looking at clock speed, remember the GameCube had a lower clock speed on a much more advanced chipset (ATI). If you search online you'll see what I mean.

This is a great record. GameCube rendered colours so well compared to the PS2. The Dreamcast also handled colour really well. PS2 graphics had their own dulled 'darkish' vibe, but its great to have the GC as a colourful alternative 6th gen console. I didn't know the GC video output was cleaner than Wii. That's a reason to keep using my GC instead of playing on Wii I guess. I pay on a Trinitron and the GC is very clean, especially games like F Zero, really looks "HD" on my Trini.

Metroid Prime was the reason why I wanted a Gamecube and I was blown away by that game. The gameplay, graphics, music, and innovation, and that's a quality game I call it. When I got a Gamecube as a Christmas present, it came with a collector's edition of Zelda which combined 4 full games including the first & original Zelda, The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. I enjoyed them all and I have beaten OoT and MM, not the first two because they were hard and I got stuck at some points. Besides, I got to play Super Smash Bros Melee, Star Fox Adventures, Super Mario Sunshine, The Wind Waker, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Sonic Heroes, Pikmin, Resident Evil 4, Shadow the Hedgehog, and some to mention. Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were totally a different story. While the Gamecube wasn't my go-to console, it has its place.

I had a GameCube originally. Bought it cause at the time, Resident Evil 4 was supposed to be exclusive. Funny how that worked out. But regardless of that, I did enjoy the system and the few great games it had. Super Mario sunshine, Metroid prime, metal gear solid twin snakes, and other ones too that I enjoyed. The best thing I remember about the GameCube, though was the attachable Game Boy advance reader you could put on the bottom of the system.I remember playing the Castlevania Game Boy advance games on my television thru the Game Cube then,which was really neat at the time.

My personal backlash to the Wind Waker graphical style, when I first saw screenshots, came partly from seeing a number of “cel-shaded” games come out and having a feeling of “oh, you too Nintendo?” However, it mostly came from being in my early to mid twenties by the time the game came out, and having seen other series, such as Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and Metal Gear, which I had all loved on the NES, take the directions they did on PlayStation and wanting the Zelda games (my favorite of all) to “grow” (more “mature”) with me the way the other series had. One of the reasons I believe Ocarina hit the way it did for multiple generations is that it had both the child and adult timelines, maintaining childlike wonder, while filling me on my own journey through life. So focusing on a child Link and using “cartoony” graphics made it seem on the surface that it was less “for me.” Of course this all melted away, when I finally played the game several years later, and not it is one of my favorites of all time. Also, Metroid Prime very much scratched that itch of seeing a series evolve as I grew older.

In my personal experience with friends and what I read in a few magazines, RE4 was an absolute masterpiece and everyone liked it. It was when RE5 came out that it was squarely placed in the "Arcade On-Rails Shooter" style. Literally, RE5 plays just like a coin-op, from "prepping" your items before missions, to super forgiving and plentiful checkpoints, to a complete and utter lack of exploration (basically 100% scripted missions). I think people briefly blamed RE4 for what RE5 became. lol.

Gen Z and gen alpha kids don't know and probably will never know that back then, Nintendo actually directly competed with Sony, Microsoft and even Sega. Gen z will never know that back in 2001, the GameCube was actually very powerful, especially considering how small and compact it is. It was very powerful for a little guy. The first gen z kids were barely being born at around this time while milennials were kids and teens at around this point (21 and under). I do think many 6th gen consoles have their charm visually. A lot of games have aged poorly but there are also a lot who have aged quite well. It was the last generation where Japanese developed games still dominated the market for the biggest titles before the shift to western developers being the dominant force in the 7th generation. GameCube had its advantages over the PS2 from a graphical standpoint.

Don't feel bad about playing Wind Waker late. I first played and beat Skyward Sword in 2017 on the Wii U. Amazing game 🤙🏼 SHINE !! 🌞 Sunshine was always my favorite Mario game. Fastest playing, freestyle 3D Mario game. Check out the speedruns 🤙🏼 Metroid Prime was hard and confusing game. Loved the sound effects and menu music On Soul Caliber II, be Link, grab attack Ring Out everytime. Can't go wrong 🫡 On Simpsons Hit and Run, you can steal a 4wheeler if you find it MARVEL Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects was an incredible, hilarious, buggy game and can be very challenging. It's fighting style felt very unique. It's also on the PS2 and PSP. I highly recommend. Great soundtrack as well.

Something i want to mention with MKDD controls. You can omagine that instead of turning with the front wheels, you turn with your back wheels. I can't confirm this, but i think they made it so to feel some sence of weight. Since you got a partner hanging on behind. And your partner helps a lot with that feel too, since they sway their hips and ajust for every turn you make. It's one of the Maaany things that makes this game so uniqe and fun. It doesn't play like any other Mario Kart, and that's what makes it so special to me.

@@VideoGameShowcase I trust you! You live in Canada after all... haha If it works both ways i think "looked like" is the most common. Anyway, i totally agree with you with the windwaker graphics thing. Zelda minish cap also received criticism for being based on those graphics but the game is incredible. Also, search for "deamon claw" a game being developed for the mega drive. Valeu falou ;)

@18:20 they absolutely nailed Links fighting style. A real brawler style fighter using unconventional techniques and not your typical Japanese character style flashiness. That is Link to a T. I wish nintendo made a zelda game where the combat system was this way after locking on to a target.

I feel like it aged better than the PS2 to play in modern displays since the PS2 had mostly 480i games. But I still find both the PS2 and PS3 libraries superior. PS2 had FF10, FF12, Dragon Quest 8, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus… the PS3 had Uncharted, The Last of Us, Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet, Demon’s Souls! Don’t get me wrong, I love the GameCube, and it did have great games (as shown in the video). But I think its library was lacking in comparison to the PS2 and PS3! Thanks for the comment!!!

I think there was a reason to own a gamecube even if you had a ps2 or xbox that generation. The wii gave the ps3 a run for its money the next gen with similar hardware to the cube and a waggly stick😂 but it couldn't compete in the power dept. They were great times to be into video games with the amount of variety and invention!

@@VideoGameShowcaseI also feel there are less games on GameCube compared to the PS2, but I think the exclusives such as wind waker, Metroid prime, the resident games, makes it a definite more of a quality library, even if it's lacking in some third parties or exclusives that never came to the GameCube but to the PS2 or the Xbox original. But I think that's the reason I love the cube so much, because nowadays almost all the games are playable in every console, but at that time, you had to have all 4 consoles (I count the Dreamcast) if you wanna truly experience all of gaming in it's form. That's just my view on the topic, I appreciate your video and I hope to see yours next video when it appears on my feed, imma sub to you

The Gamecube hosted two of the best resident evil games of all time. Re4 and Resident evil remake. And Re4 is still one of the best games of all time and still plays well unless you are a completely incompetent player who can't handle anything. The Re4 remake is great, but it doesn't measure up to the original. And you smarties who don't know how to control retro games have to understand that, for example, the fact that Leon has to stand still and shoot, the gameplay is adapted to that. Do you understand? So Ganados are slower and give you a chance to blast them. It's also more tactical. And Re4 is still the horror game with the best atmosphere. When it went completely wrong and the proof that if two do the same thing, it's not the same thing was Re5. That's where it went wrong. Re4 and Re5 are two completely different games. Re4 is the pinnacle of the genre and one of the best upgrades
