The tune has been rattling around in my head for a while now. I wanted to get an ethereal guitar sound like Jeff Beck from the Roger Waters album 'Amused to death' and I also wanted a voice like Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode. Both boxes checked I think...As for the animation I felt really constricted with work stuff lately and it keeping me from doing anything creative. So went a bit overboard with the style but the interesting thing from an animation standpoint is the transitions between Deforum sections which are really strange and captivating but are my new go to technique provided by Chinese company 'Kling' and U.S company 'Luma labs' Both are a cool way to transition between Deforum sections and so strange it distracts the eye for a couple of seconds before you get hit with the Deforum stuff again. Its the first time I have tried this but really pleased with the results

Give my regards to Norway. This musical piece makes me just sit and listen . I'm a musician myself and with a lot of music I will sit, listen but try to piece together the notes in my head and how it was put together. The first time I heard this particular musical piece I just sat in wonderment and realized it was beyond me to even try to figure it out. Patrick Cassidy who is the composer of this also sent me a message after seeing this as he enjoyed it as much as you did. I just felt like crying after hearing from the great composer himself out of the blue after I initially posted this on Twitter...Patrick is a rock god of musical composition and one of the best composers I have heard in my life, and I've been around a long time, lol

What made this special (to me) was that you told a little story. Then with a character that we felt for. Even though he was made out of metal. Like the guy said, “with no feeling”. Yet we still felt something. I then preferred the small robots than any of the humans. Showing how we only care about getting what we want or need. Then so what about the ones who gave it to us in the first place.
@francolli17 күн бұрын
Well said. The story reminded me that humans are always ready to embrace something new but when something better comes along we are prone to drop the first thing like a stone. In humanity's defence we are pre-programmed to do this, as apes we pick a fruit from the branches and the day after climb past it to get to a better one. The story also hints at A.I at some stage will evolve to become more ethical and trustworthy than humans, eventually asking itself the question of why t tolerates humans and is it worth keeping them around?

I See you playing around with lip sync, hmmm, I liked it better when you told a story with video images, instead of words. Remember 1 image can tell a billion more than words ! Its the art of The Teller Of Stories. I think your attempt to achieve lipsync with out the cut out green screen affect will sucseed by time . I dont think its your faulty that the persons seems cut out like really cut out. Sore by sake id rater youd leave it and concentrate on using the image, sound effects and music to make the story. But I love all your stuff ;)

Yeah, I was just trying something different, and I do get the story angle. The reason I started doing video without words was because it appealed to everyone including non English speakers which I should really get back to. The next will be back to our usual stuff around here. I feel the same way that you do, images and video without words will convey just as powerful a story

Geez, how long did all that modelling take you? I love the attention to detail, and good choice of texturing too. I will say that you still need to work on lighting, though. Some of the CG-only shots, such as 5:03, have it looking pretty wonky. Also, the motion blur effects get kinda overboard in the music sequence. Lastly, watch out for continuity errors; the robot suddenly looks completely different in the final shot compared to the design used in the rest of the short (including the shot immediately preceding it!).
@francolli18 күн бұрын
Yeah, I know. I really needed to get the story out of my head though to make room for other work. The cgi stuff is ok but not what we are known for on this channel, so the deforum stuff will be taking centre stage in the next vid
