William S Burroughs reads from 'Apocalypse' I thought It was only right that I try go as deep, surreal and nuts with the animation as the prose itself. Apologies to anyone with a nervous disposition!

Great. 👍 Cross between David Lynch (on a bad day), William Burroughs, and Brothers Grimm. I’ll bet the narrator reads storybook to little children during the day.

Burroughs was an interesting guy. Completely flawed and messed up but there's something about his vocal delivery that makes it almost rhythmic. Reminds me of some messed up dream time religious flowing hymn. Dark and seedy for sure

William Burroughs - the life of the party. 👍

I really had to think hard of an animation as weird as his words. That isn't easy

@@francolli You should have tried matching the animation to the lyrics of Kylie Minogue…

Maybe I should have put Kylie and Rick Astley in there with the weirdos, lol@@vasari9198

I was nauseous watching this at Normal speed, then I turned it down to Half speed and truly became ill. Masterclass, well done! :)
@francolli6 ай бұрын
It's quite nauseous at any speed to be fair. I have had that on my computer for a few weeks now and didn't know what to do with it but William Burroughs messed up prose delivered in a rhythmic patter kinds makes it a little more disorienting and weird. The prose subject matter seems to draw my mind away from the weirdness and keeps both in balance. Sometimes I get those days when poetry and animation just need to take a back seat temporarily while I vent with something strange

@@francolli I'm happy you've shared it: I think we all need a bit of the grotesque and strange once in awhile. Keeps life from getting dull :)

Just watched this on x2 speed on a nice light dose of shrooms. 😎 Very well done, love this stuff.

It was always my intention to make something that different people would approach from many different angles and take from it many different meanings and perspectives from their own world. Back in the day I'm sure I would have joined you in that journey

This is using the style of Indonesian artist Robi Dwi Antono who is one of my favourite artists, really cool artworks out there by Robi, really distinctive and quite trippy, check out his stuff if you get the chance www.artsy.net/artist/roby-dwi-antono

Thank you, welcome to the channel. There will be more animations along similar lines to come. Bosch is in my mind always when I make these animations, he was three hundred years ahead of his time, a true visionary

Its really liberating for me to just let loose and not have to worry about putting my own slant on things. Having been part of the music world for many years I have learned along the way when laying down tracks in a studio to just do one track and walk away because that first take is where the heart and inspiration in the moment lies. If you do 20 takes at something it gets steadily more contrived and false. All of these animations were done in one sitting. If I come back to something after a couple of days to finish it it doesn't work. Lay it down now and don't stop until its done. Its nice to know there are others out there who connect with it🙂

Not sure whether the deforum animation is weirder than William Burroughs reading here. Both equally bizarre

Perfeito!

I loved William Burroughs in my younger days, his stuff is amazing. I also love the art of Robi Dwi Antono so wondered what it would be like to match the two and it came out strange but captivating in this animation

It always amazes me that deforum is constantly fighting me. I wat one thing and deforum wants something completely different. With this one Deforum won, it just went completely against the plan and went wackadoodle. Its like riding a bucking bronco making these sometimes
