like you, the first time I heard Between the Bars I got the impression that it was like a sweet love song, but it takes on a much more sinister tone when you realize it's sung from the perspective of alcohol seducing Elliott to stay with them all night. the drink is telling him that it'll help take away his pain, but isolate him from everything else "drink up with me now, and forget all about the pressure of days" "separate from the rest, where I like you the best"

You’re gonna like XO and Figure 8 a lot, he got signed to dream works after this album, because of the success of Good Will Hunting. He does a lot more rocking and brings in a lot of other sounds, some of the tracks feel like you’re listening an orchestra. My personal favorite album has to be the posthumous album, From a basement on the hill. I hope you react to all of them. PS: check out the Heatmiser version of Christian Brothers, it never made it on any albums but it truly is a banger. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJbVamSGpLdjicUsi=orzFhR9krQwvz_Tn

Loved the reaction! I hope you listen to some more Elliott, his sound gets a lot bigger and wilder from here on. Can’t wait for you hear him really rock out. Also, he had a band called Heatmiser before he went solo. You should check out their version of Christian Brothers, amazing. Also he kinda blew up because of a movie called Good Will Hunting, a bunch of tracks from Either/Or are in it, very good movie.

Thanks for reaction! He was a huge Beatles fan and covered alot of their songs, can find them here on KZbin. Lyrics are really important in his music at least for me. Either/Or is the next step and would love to see/hear your reaction to that album.
