I enjoyed your video as I recently rediscovered my interest in Texas history & my almost totally forgotten familiarity with Mr. Lamar. I especially was interested to learn that he was from Ga., my home state & where I currently reside. In fact, Lamar was born near a town to the south of me, not terribly distant at all, easily reachable in a short time. Of course, the fellow wasn't born in the town itself but out on a nearby plantation somewhere, probably lost to history, unmarked, impossible to locate. One finds Lamar's treatment of Indians & favorable attitude toward slavery as thoroughly despicable & repulsive today but I realize it was a far different time.

Don’t say Indian god. It’s wrong. We Nepali have our own way to pray god and goddess. Some incarnation are even totally belongs to Nepal. However it’s not right to say Indian god. We pray to Nature and Nature is god for us.

Mixed feelings here - yeah, Bagration did much to defeat Napoleon, but the result was an even greater tyranny in Central Europe, Russia, that to this day still yearns to return to its former greatness. In one of your excellent paintings you show Polish lancers attacking a Russian battery - these are my people, who were well aware what would be the result of a Russian success in this war.

Do we know what Malik Shah's forces were made up of during his invasion? I know that he wasn't as much of a Nomadic conqueror as his father was, so I'm guessing he used a significant number of infantry men.
@StoicHistorian10 күн бұрын
Malik shahs personal force was mostly horsemen, but most of the invasion force was mixed infantry and horsemen from the local Caucasus and Zagros mountains, so yes it was definitely more infantry than alp arslan

The historical account that attributes the decline of Portuguese presence in East Africa solely to disease is inaccurate. In reality, it was the Ajuuran Empire that played a significant role in combating the Portuguese. The Ajuuran actively engaged in battles against the Portuguese, who were not established rulers but rather pirates disrupting the Indian Ocean trade routes. The Ajuuran Empire ruled regions including Sofala in Mozambique and, recognizing the threat posed by the Portuguese, sought to eliminate their interference. To strengthen their efforts, the Ajuuran invited the Omanis to join the fight against the Portuguese. They also shared their advanced shipbuilding technology and knowledge of navigating the monsoon seasons with the Omanis. This collaboration was instrumental in their combined success against the Portuguese, ensuring the continued dominance of the Ajuuran Empire in the region and gifted Mombasa to the Omanis as fellow Muslim nation with the same interest.
