@@PiningOverHome it was, the teacher manual has the pages from the student manual with the answers so it’s easy for me to not have to look over what he sees on his page and just sit across from him and teach it. Thanks for this! I think the size is a big factor for us as we do a lot of travelling - and the fact that the small one has longer battery life while using the same charging cable as our phones/ computer it’s a no brainer that the mini is the one for us! And if we grow a cards collection we might always add the bigger one for stationary use at home :) ❤
@PiningOverHomeАй бұрын
I’m glad it was helpful! I’ve found over the last year or so we hardly ever reach for the full sized Yoto. So I think the mini is a good choice!

@@PiningOverHome I think the full size yoto makes a lot of sense for cards that have educational components with showing letters and numbers etc. - But I don’t think this is what we will be using our yoto for, at least not for a while! (Our kid is only 16 months old)

This is awesome, thank you!!! One question…. What program did you use to teach your kiddos to read? Just TGAB program + readers or anything else?
@PiningOverHome2 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes mostly TGTB, but when they were little I heavily focused on letters, then phonics and never did memorization of words. I think that’s really helped them with decoding. It meant in the very beginning struggling through some Bob books, but then once it clicked (for my second it was a month into kindergarten, for my first even younger!), they just start leaping forward by reading and I’m pretty hands off at that point. Just there to help them sound through a word if it’s incorrect. I do think I have a video on teaching them to read, I think it’s my how I got started homeschooling or something like that 😂 sorry not super helpful lol

I think all your kids are close to one year older than mine❤ Do you use the instructors guide for math? I didn’t see it…so do you just explain the concepts?
@PiningOverHome2 ай бұрын
How sweet! I go through the instructors guide on Sunday when I lesson plan! It’s not a scripted curriculum, so I just see how the concept should be taught and pick a few of the activities or make a version of my own for the week :)
@brittanyborreggine1742 ай бұрын
Hi! One other math question…. For dimensions, do you have the kids do all the problems in the workbook and the text book OR just the workbook and do the textbook if they need additional practice? I’ve heard it’s a lot of problems between the two. Getting ready to order ours. Would love to hear what you do!
@PiningOverHome2 ай бұрын
It can be a lot between the two!! We do all of the textbook, and then depending on how well they understand the concept I choose from the workbook. If they really don’t get it, I may pick a few from the workbook lesson and finish it the next day to give their mind a chance to rest. Typically we do the full textbook and half of the workbook though! Unless they request to do more which often happens 😂

Thanks for sharing! Question, for Fix It Grammar, I know it's intended for 3rd grade and up, and am wondering if I can start usung that for a 1st grader. My question is, I guess, do you think it's appropriate for 1st graders? Or your son is just so advanced? 😊
@PiningOverHome3 ай бұрын
I think it will work! My current kindergartener is close to done with his level 1 LA, so he is further ahead, but I would say for an advanced 1st grader it’s appropriate! I would also base it off if he likes to edit sentences. Mine loves it, if he didn’t I would hold off on grammar or pick a different program. I’m purely doing it for him because his older brother will be doing it and I know he’ll want to join in 😂

I’m curious, why do you buy the charter version? What’s the difference aside from the scripture verse?
@PiningOverHome3 ай бұрын
When you receive charter funds, you can’t purchase religious material with those funds, so a lot of curriculum companies will either slightly modify or take out books from the set. (Which you can then purchase with your own money) I talk more about using a charter in this video! Homeschooling Through A Charter | What Is It Like? kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGmcfqZmptCUpck
