This is a quick video on my thoughts, not meant to be a in detail video on how to do a brake lubrication, I didn't have anyone to film or a tri-pod so in this instance there was really no good way for me to film this job.
@whattheschmidtАй бұрын
Since I have 2 sets of wheels (winter and all season), I only have to lift each point once and i rotate too. I use the Safety Jack stand / Renn stand, with the price imo. I do like the idea of having a whole side off at once though, I think a solution for that would be to make it out of 4x4 and other wood with a wide base and include a centering puck on top though. I don't want to trust any harbor freight jack stand after their huge recall.
@BryceAdviceАй бұрын
@@whattheschmidt Totally understand your point, I worked for Harbor Freight for a exactly year, but I no longer work there because I wanted to work for Monster Energy instead (The jobs a lot more fun) but anyways what I can say is the recall was only on the Pittsburgh jack stands not Daytona. Anything from the Daytona lineup is really solid quality & can be relied upon. The biggest returns I’ve seen at Harbor Freight are the Pittsburgh stuff not so much Daytona & I have talked with many shop owner’s & mechanics throughout my year who came in shopping & most all of them said Daytona is solid for their shops. In my case these Daytona stands are perfect because they have the built in rubber pads. Of course I don’t want to use these in conjunction with the Tesla pucks as rubber on rubber with a gap between would be a bad idea. Better just to have the jack stand rubber directly on the cars jack points.

So update for everyone I’m lubricating the brakes today & will have a follow up video saying if lubrication was the problem. If it was then this video might be useful for someone who has these same noises as it’s a great reminder it’s time for a brake lubrication.

You have the car back to Tesla with the lift kit still installed? Oh that's going to cost you. They'll (maybe correctly) blame that for the issues and deny warranty.
@BryceAdvice4 ай бұрын
The lift kit is from Mountain Pass Performance a very reputable company in Tesla aftermarket parts & it was installed by a Tesla Tech that used to work for them & knows the cars very well. My mechanic & I highly doubt that the lift kit had anything to do with it. I'm leaning more toward an autopilot computer or something breaking since I wasn't able to use autopilot or see other cars on the road. If Tesla did try to blame the kit they would have to provide proof that the kit was the direct cause of the issue. All I can do is hope, they should be inspecting the car today according to the Service ticket, we'll see if they even start looking at it.
@RichardBrooklyn4 ай бұрын
@@BryceAdvice Tesla won't care about any of that. "The third party parts fitted to the car has increase strain on X components and has caused Y to fail and won't be covered under warranty" or whatever. Thank you for mentioning the actual difference in height: in the video, your stated measurements would make it about 4 inches. However, the website states the lift is 1.75 inches. So, I guess we chalk that up to you speaking off the top of your head rather than based on actual measurements. I too think it is better to have more ground clearance and an puzzled by those guys who lower their Model 3 from standard height instead of raising it. I have bookmarked the Mountain Pass website. Thank you for including the link.
@BryceAdvice5 ай бұрын
Yeah, the actual ride height of the car is 9" now from the factory 5.5". The kit raises the car a bit more than 1.75" I'm not sure how they got that number.

How the lift affected ride comfort? How do you feel about it 8 month after? Thank you
@BryceAdvice6 ай бұрын
It’s not as stable when going 120+MPH definitely a lot of body roll now feels like the car can’t handle turns at that speed. But anything under 100MPH it feels alright, the lift absolutely helped with the roads tho & suspension feels the same in terms of stiffness. What I did notice helped the ride comfort is airing the tires down to 42PSI.
