JP I will miss your training videos. I have learned more from your videos than all the SonicWall manuals I read. Good luck with your new venture! Note: I am not in my 20's - I am in my 60's and STILL LEARNING! Never stop learning folks!

This might be a dumb question, sorry I’m new to all of this. Based on your set up from the last video, let’s say I connect a unifi switch to port x3. How will it know which Vlan it assigns IPs for? Do I have to go on each individual port and tag which vlan in needs to belong to? Thank you for your effort

Congrats on the new Venture JP, I wish you the best. It is sad that there will not be more SW videos. when you started this channel you filled a void that was there for network administrators. the pandemic brought me to your channel, I had to configure quite a few SMAs, I did it because your videos. I am upgrading a current network with a new TZ670, 6 sonicwall PoE switches and 8 SonicWall 641 access points. For each VLAN you had a physical connection to the firewall from the switch. In my mind, I was thinking there should be one trunk for all the VLAN's to the switch. Can you help me understand the difference from how you did this and one trunk port to the firewall?

I found your video very informative. We have the AT&T Syn248 phone system in our office, and I tried to set up an extra Deskset from my work phone to work at home. I successfully created the Tunnel Interface VPN from the office to my house. But for some reasons, the remote phone couldn't work. May be, the phone system doesn't support VoIP

Jean-Pier, I have an interesting situation where my client's TZ570 is behind the buildings nat and getting a dhcp class c Ip address from their firewall. what I'm l'm needing to accomplish is allowing outside users access to an internal source. in this instance a file server. what are your thoughts
@JeanPierTalbot
@JeanPierTalbot 2 ай бұрын
That won’t work. Unless you get the first firewall to NAT to your firewall then you can NAT it yourself. But really not optimal. Best would be to get your own internet.

is the purchased SSL VPN 10qty License from TZ600 will be abel to transfer to TZ670 as well, how can i do that? going for Config Migration Tool ( as when i register new TZ670 by selecting old TZ600, the SSL License is not showing up in TZ670, i did not click Regsiter and Transfer option as TZ600 currently in Busy operation and dont want to lose license on that).

If they don’t transfer, you will need to contact customer service to get them transferred. Keep in mind, only added licences will transfer. The built in one won’t

I connected to my BT router lan/wan a router sonicwall and then I created apart x1 and x0, x2, x3 and x4 but I'm not able to connect to my sonicwall ip address (e.g. x2 LAN) from a bt ip address. The question is, how can I connect a pc under bt net to a pc under sonicwall net? Please help me. 😮 Thank you so much for your time

I have a question for something I want to do and it's driving me crazy. There is a way to only allow domain joined computers to access the vpn? For example if an employee uses their personal computer , have the vpn to reject the connection because it's not part of out domain. Jose

Not officially. Only the SSL appliances have EPC (end point control) firewalls don’t have EPC. BUT… while you can’t control what devices connect, you can control what devices passes traffic using SSO.

Jean-Pier, love your videos and have learned a lot! We currently have an NSA2700 with a 200/200 Mbps internet connection which is great as we have less than 100 users. The only problem for us with sizing is that the owner would like to step up to a 1Gig fiber connection. For real world performance with all Security Services and DPI-SSL enabled it looks like to get that kind of speed through we would have to step up to an NSA4700? Seems like overkill but that seems to be what would be needed to support that kind of connection?
