what if your opponent is powershielding a lot? Couldn't faking a laser by landing before it comes out be decent if you're trying to punish a powershield attempt edit: in matchups like marth

1:10 if you DI up throw forward you can still be regrabed, so its actually a 50/50 unless you’re cracked and can tell the difference between the two early enough to di them both correctly.
@SsbmGinger
@SsbmGinger 20 күн бұрын
This is interesting to bring up, but if Marth wants to regrab the DI down and away off of up throw at 0% it's an exactly frame perfect input from the Marth. If he's a frame late you'd be able to shine and get a complete reversal. I think that the majority of the time Marth grabs you at 0% you should be very ready for the forward throw and then also practice the timing of jumping/shining out of up throw assuming they're not frame perfect. It might be "technically" a 50/50, but I think in practice it won't work out that way almost ever. Also, the throws are unreactable unfortunately so you won't be able to tell the difference between the two :/

true! but mixups are always present. if they’re consistent in good shield angling then poke them somewhere else
@SsbmGinger
@SsbmGinger 2 ай бұрын
They could! But there 3 important things to think about there: 1. If they’re angling their shield down you now make it incredibly difficult for them to shield drop 2. They’re now exposing the top of their head which could be full hop shine shield poked 3. There are post-shine mix ups that are good (especially if you’ve nullified their ability to shield drop) gl out there

I’m never taking Ginger for granted ever again (going to binge the series) I’m noticing a lot of the same habits I have when I’m up against an opponent who has a game plan when I don’t. I tend to make games a lot closer than they need to be and get desperate.. I need to play to my characters strengths more instead of getting impatient

If your opponent already has shield out on a platform, isn't that a bad moment to aggress for fear of shield drop reversals?
@SsbmGinger
@SsbmGinger 2 ай бұрын
My assumption is that you haven't watched the video LOL but I can summarize for you I guess: This would poke around someone's shield so you hit their hurtbox that is exposed and also remaining under them causes them to fall into your shine a lot of the time gl out there

my fav thing on yoshis as falco is catching ppl with u-smash who think they are landing safely or mixing up falling through on the plat where it slants down. Usually can catch them with it after hitting those uptilts you had mentioned. Also, would love a vid exploring falco up air and or grabs. Been seeing Mang0 and Magi utilize them so well recently.

Hey guys! Get out there and try this shield poke set up! I've found tons of success with it I'm still not certain how character/spacing/z-axis dependent the up tilt poke set up is, but it was just an interesting thing I found while making the video that I wanted to bring up lol. I hope you guys like the video :)

what about no DI or slight DI's in between? They're just other analagous situations to DI in where you go fine aerial shine crossup/no crossup mixups into more platform followups?
@SsbmGinger
@SsbmGinger 2 ай бұрын
Yes essentially! Any amount of DI out that puts them off stage should be followed up with the SH -> fast fall -> DJ dair and if they do any amount of DI that leaves them on stage then you have some combo choices to make. SH up air, ambiguous aerial shines, laser turn around up tilt, and more!
