@JayDfamily5 ай бұрын
That’s true ! You can’t coloring the same way as they are different. I have had this experience. For next time if you use both cameras on set , better use slog 2 as Sony a7II is an 8bit cameras. To match them in editing is easy

Sony a7siii 10 bit - S-log3 8bit - S-log2 My mistake 4k24fps downscaled to 1080p 24fps 8bit - s-log3, I’ve notice horrible banding & lacks dynamic Range in lowlight club conditions. My new test will be: Shoot 4k30fps downscale in post 1080p30fps - 8bit - s-log2 for lowlight club edits. Lets see.

You can also use SLOG2 on the A7S3, i prefer that personaly, easier to expose & to color grade, & less noise

Crazy, the skin tones look better in the 2, but the grey of the sweatshirt looks noticeably better in 3.

Hey Mike, Thanks for creating an easy to follow guide. I just have one suggestion, when you are speaking the Key commands necessary to create these affects you really should have it in print somewhere on the screen as well. Your accent does make it necessary to listen very intently a few times to get what you are saying. I am very much a visional learner and having those commands in writing makes the whole process take less than 1/2 the time. I'm 63 and don't catch on like these younger guys that were born with a Keyboard in there hands. Thanks again. Russell Carmona
@TehHaffsTuts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Russell, Thanks for your feedback buddy, I will do this going forward. Funny you have trouble with the accent, the Liverpudlian dialect is a bit different if you've not had much dealings with it! haha All the best mate

@mattboggs63042 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong about this, but it was my general understanding that if you used an 8 bit color camera (A7iii for example) it was better to use SLOG2 for various reasons, and if you had a 10 bit color camera (A7S3) SLOG3 was the way to go.
@TehHaffsTuts2 жыл бұрын
That makes complete sense! cheers for the comment! :)
@etherealnorth2 жыл бұрын
Nice to know! Thanks. How about HLG2 and HLG3? For the A7iii is it better to use S-Log2 or HLG? I was also wondering what's best at night? Thanks!
@jannisbmrt Жыл бұрын
@@etherealnorth depends, I think they are both very different. HLG looks better straight out of cam and requires less grading. Slog is probably better when you have a lot of dynamic range (bright skies, shadows etc.). Slog also has a base ISO of 700 or so. So when you're outside during the day and don't have an ND filter, you gonna have problems. But I would say just make some comparisons for yourself and see what works best :)
@etherealnorth Жыл бұрын
@@jannisbmrt Thanks! I finally opted for the A7SIII and I find HLG2 to work real good at very low light with base ISO 12800! SLOG3 with ND Filter is best during the day of course :)
@NITOENT121 күн бұрын
Though I understand the reasoning why, in this case it looks better as S-LOG3 though. Would you still say it's better?
