My property joins the state forest. After slashing the field. It attracts deer and pigs and neighbours cows for miles. With the Roos and wombats. It’s like a rave party.

Great vid and nice stag. although deer can’t see colour, they can definitely detect the contrast especially if you are moving. Just a tip that might help. Wash your blaze gear repeatly then leave it to fade in the sun.

Great work! That’s an awesome deer! Also I’m pretty sure the mushroom you said will kill you was an aminita muscaria, hard to tell from the footage but it’s actually only mildly toxic and if you boil it in water a couple of times and throw out the water they are edible and actually quite nice. A bit too much hassle unless there’s a lot of them though.

2 comments, get snap caps to avoid damaging your firing pin when dry firing. Second, torque your bolts to Tikka specs to avoid them loosening in the field.

I can imagine, hopefully I can have a bit of luck like that if I ever get out on a hunt. I'm curious, on the last one you shot, how close do you think you were? I'd like to learn how to bow hunt and I usually don't see too many people on videos in oz get that close for a shot, especially in the open.
@barrettsoutdooradventures46304 ай бұрын
Yeah mate. I actually started bowhunting for a good 7 years before I got a rifle. It def made me a better hunter 200%. Learning to get close is half the fun. I was roughly 60mtrs mabye...I used the cover of the trees to make ground while the deer was moving then when it stopped I paused.. then I could see it was going to loop around so Idropped down and got set up. Being a young spiker there pretty enquisitive so a few hind calls made him come for a look.
@shauneyres4 ай бұрын
Cool, cheers for the info mate. I know I'm up for a challenge to learn to hunt with a bow, but that's the skill I'm looking for to be able to sneak up and get in close. It great to see someone from the same area getting out there and having success.

That particular Anshultz is a rebranded Savage.
@barrettsoutdooradventures46307 ай бұрын
is it i idint know that?
@kevindavies51366 ай бұрын
No its not. It has zero relation to savage. It is 100 percent pure german dsign and build. Similar to other germanic brands too like wheirauch and krico. If anything, savage coppied that basic design and did so some 20-30 years after the germans were making them....
@bradh747 ай бұрын
Ansultz (or however you spell that) is a High end rifle, especially in 22lr (rimfire rifles). Like Olympic quality stuff is made by them so you got a good one! Wish I had luck like that, to be honest! Not sure where you are but I would guess Australia, but here in the US that would go for good money and is highly collectable. If we could get the Lithgow rifles here again they should sell too because of how they shoot. The ones that are here are collectable. You should google that stuff really quick but good find anyway!
