Hello Andrew, I really want to bring up an important issue! Well,,, there are some lunatics out there (some that tried to ruin your last live stream. ) But I am a long time Beatle fan since the 80's. And the videos that you and other Beatle fans as " Mean MR Mayo" and "Beatle Tone" and other are these days important to me! So... I just wish you you will continue and never let the the fools get in your way"

Bought this on vinyl. On first playing, I was slightly unimpressed. However, it is now my go-to album. 1985 is a revelation. And the ending without the reprise is wonderful.

Hi Legend, I mean Andrew. I have the 8 LP for ATMP and I have the 5 CD version. Today I compared the tracklist of both, and discovered the 5 CD is EXACTLY the same as the 8 LP. Now I'm wondering what the difference is with the 8 LP and the 5 LP? Do U happen to know??

Early Fleetwood Mac was blusey, band until 1975, their best song : Tallahassee Lassie, as I'm collecting unreleased Soundboard or FM concerts & outtakes...They changed after 1975 I'm from US & in Canada: Adam & the Ants were not well known until Goody Two Shoes, I got into them in Denver, CO. in 1981, before I got to Germany

Another great review Andrew, although it does annoy me that the EP is not included with with the cd version, and this is something that I find worrying going forward. Is vinyl going to become the preferred physical medium, there has recently been some Jimi Hendrix releases only available on vinyl, including one coming up that includes many outtakes.

Hey You've probably already have sused this out already? I was listening to George Harrisons ATMP 50th Anniversary, and I noticed an extra lead guitar part on the 3rd verse of: WHAT IS LIFE, and on: LET IT ROLL there is a deep voice repeating: Let it roll Sir Frank Crisp. I also have 30th Anniversary CD so tomorrow I'm going play to hear what I haven't noticed before. If these 2 things are also on that disk?? I don't think they are?
@AndrewDixonMusic
@AndrewDixonMusic 4 күн бұрын
Hi, not sure about the guitar part but the "Frank Crisp" part can be heard on previous versions but really faintly, so it's always been there but they cranked it right up for this release. I seem to recall hearing it was Mal Evans saying those lines!

No doubt PM's dad introduced him to Babyface as a kid. And someone like Kenny Ball & His Jazz Band probably played it on a UK tv variety show every year through the 60s! The Kinks had been doing music hall and vaudeville songs in their live shows for a couple of years by the time of One Hand... Babyface is on 1972's Everybody's in Showbiz album. Maybe that's where he took his lead from?

Great overview of the album, Andrew, and I share your enthusiasm for this release. Just absolutely stellar work by one of the best Wings lineups. And this might be my favorite version of Sally G, a tune which maddingly enough isn't in his Lyrics book nor in the lyrics section of his website. As for the Archive collection, I don't personally care if it's dead or not, but I do care a lot that London Town and Back to the Egg seem to be low priorities for MPL. Surely they won't make us wait until 2028-2029 before they give these releases their proper due.

Fantastic review (as always). Would have been nice to hear your thoughts on the songs missing from the release. In regards to 1985… I prefer the OHC version BUT it does drown out one of Paul’s greatest vocal performances towards the end. For that, you have to go to the Archive version now.

I love the Wings Over America live album, and I love Joe English on it. What's great here is that Geoff Britton's drumming is very different and gives the songs a bit of a heavier rock sound. I love both. Great to have this album. But I'm also really waiting for the Archive London Town and Back To The Egg. Why not do those as well. It makes no sense. What do you think of the Got Back Europe tour, Andrew? Have you got tickets? I'm talking my kids to Paris. You've done it again Andrew - thorough but concise with both a great overview and detailed observations. I wish they had included "Suicide" (seen on the DVD with BOTR Archive) and a few more of the backyard songs, but I'm tickled with all the new stuff we do have. In the section where you compare songs previously released - it seems you omitted "Band on the Run" (song) from BOTR archive and "Let's Love" from V&M Archive, which is 1 minute longer on V&M.

Baby Face leans very heavily and draws influence on the Kinks 'honky tonk' version that they performed with the Mike Cotton Sound, as the arrangement is very similar.The Kinks had a very music hall good time honky tonk based live show through the early to mid '70s (with Ray Davies taking on the persona of Max Miller) that included BF as a staple, which had been in the Kinks live act since 1971. So, its very likely MaCartney had come across the Kinks version/stage act which was very musical hall/variety based at the time. Keep at the good work.
