Would you recommend this board as a city cruiser (more pushing than pumping)?

Not necessarily. It pumps really well, but I love it as a city commuter because it's great for pushing too. I've commuted on the Wiggler, but it really wants a flat, open road. Long story short, the Supersonic is an excellent city cruiser

@@shkim4127 one of my favourites is Kedron Brook between Webster Rd in Stafford to Sandgate Rd Toombul. Pretty new surface and most of it has separate Bike/Pedestrian paths. You can go farther out toward Nudgee if you have bigger wheels, the surface is less good but it's still nice & flat There's also Brighton Beach and over the bridge to Woody Point, but on a windy day one way could be tough

how do you feel about the thickness of alu plate you used? i was thinking of making some brackets but was going to try to use 1/4"(6.35mm).
@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 7 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure that the 10mm plate is thicker than necessary, because it doesn't deflect or twist even with the lever effect of the long rear brackets. However, I think that 1/4" would be too thin unless you were making the bracket really short (like the front one on the homemade deck). The pieces are pretty cheap, so you might try a couple of thicknesses. Maybe an 8mm or 5/16" if it's available?
@SSJChar
@SSJChar 7 ай бұрын
@@DaveNZ3339 cool cool I'll give 1/4 a shot and see how it turns out first. I work at a manufacturing shop where we CNC route aluminum sheets and do CNC bending, all in house. The materials we bring in are 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8. I think I'll design some front brackets in 1/4 and see how I feel about the rear in 1/4 or 3/8. But all this is a North American summer project lol

How are they performance wise? I am afraid they'd be sluggish because they're so big. Also: is this a Beernett 6.0?
@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 Жыл бұрын
I think it's more that the board is long and heavy that makes it seem sluggish, rather than the wheels. It doesn't accelerate like my topmount or Supersonic, but it holds its top speed with less effort. The Beernett is an adjustable 137/152, set to 137mm. I use Bennett 6.0s on my other boards, love em!

Great comparison Dave! 👏 So while the Major Arc seem a tad slower than the beernett - what's your take on them when it comes to feel? For those who enjoy a bit more surfy feeling without sacrificing too much speed and efficiency, which are the better option?
@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 Жыл бұрын
I would say that the Major Arc will provide more of a surfy feel out of the box, but it can't be adjusted. The exaggerated motions I mentioned above are referring to bigger side to side pumps, which I think is what you're looking for. The Beernett (and other Bennetts I have modded) can be adjusted with wedges to be more or less turny, but I have only been doing this in the pursuit of speed

@@DaveNZ3339 how 'bushing hungry' is the spherical eating into the bushings? By now I'm riding a delrin pseudo spherical which doesn't have that downside, though it's lifespan is coming to an end...
@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 Жыл бұрын
I haven't had to replace a bushing on the Gbomb or other bracket setup, but the topmount (the homemade board with the yellow Bennett in another video) went through one last year. It could also be due to the fact that you have to "countersink" the bushing to allow room for the spherical to rotate. This reduces the amount of material available to flex. It also might be my method of countersinking, I'm a bit rough!

@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 Жыл бұрын
Hey BG, this is the 7-ply regular version. Even though it's shorter than the Wiggler, I still don't use the entire flat area, probably about 3/4 of it. I think the Wiggler is still easier to pump faster, but the Supersonic is lighter and better for pushing. When I am on a long bike path with lots of room, I prefer the Wiggler. If I am on city streets or if there are hills and different terrain where there will be a combination of pushing and pumping, the Supersonic is the better weapon.
