The o/a/u bothers me. I'd say even the word NOT is irregular since some speakers pronounce O in it very close to A/shwa, like you do. Sounds like NAT. However, we do not say as clear A sound in the word orange or octopus, do we? Shwa is really hard to hear for some learners.

Very interesting! Thank yku for explaining that. I had no idea we have 44 sounds in English. The controversy in my state is due to the fact that they only want kids to learn cueing and no other way. Everyone learns differently and I just don't understand why we can't acknowledge that and capitalize off of it. To read, we use all the clues we can get. Its a mix and not just one way.

always so helpful! thanks for the video! my first language is not enlgish and I have a question. when i map the word 'dear', should i do it as "d / ear " " or "d / e / ar "? I've been doing 'd /e /ar', because there is no phonetic symbol for 'ear' sound. (is it correct?) yet i am afraid that i might teach wrong to my students. either way ok?

I really don't like to put the magic e with the d. Instead of using the box i use _ /r/ - /i/- /d/ e . I put the e by itself and put the cross across it.

Love your materials but feel very disappointed that I wasted $10 on the subscription that didn't provide what I wanted when I bought it. Why is the Phonological Awareness with E.A.S.E. Curriculum only available with a year subscription? It would have been nice to know before I purchased the monthly subscription.

Hey there. I’m not sure what subscription you’re referring to. We do not have a $10 subscription. What did you purchase? You can email us at [email protected]. Thanks so much.

Thank you. I wish this whole course of yours was affordable for me. My second grader cannot read. Testi g didn't show cognitive or dyslexia. 3-4 in jer room can read grade level. The teachers dont care the administration don't care. This is AL public school using the all in one Magraw Hill Open Court Reading. The Reading league or someone needs to review why this curriculum is in schools, it is so lacking and parts if it makes no sense, it's noncohesive, skips around. It's confusing enugh for adults must less students. I just would love for her to have a teacher such as you. I help at home all I can. Your material & readers are so intentional, clear & precise.

I am a Reading Interventionist - I teach multiple grade levels at different skill levels. My sound wall is up and all posters uncovered - do you have an idea of HOW I can "uncover" a new skill per group using ONE sound wall?? As a classroom teacher I was able to do this and it was very powerful, but I'm struggling with having multiple classes accessing one resource. Thank you!

Hello Ms. DiGilio! I love your channel. Are you familiar with Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching? If so, do you agree with it? If so, do you have any support for teachers with Domain 3 4b? Thank you for your reply.

Why doesn’t your sound wall have an illustration? I am trying to understand how some sound walls include an illustration to each phoneme but yours does not. Hope you reply.

Hi there. We added an illustration on the grapheme cards that go under the sound card.

@@AnnaDiGilioSo sorry! I revisited the sound wall and did notice the illustration. Thank you. I noticed that the emphasis is in k-1 but I teach 4-5 graders who read at a 1st grade level and have never seen a sound wall. Do I follow the k-1. I am so confused on which kit to purchase. Thank you for taking time to reply.

Hi Ana, Could you discuss the differences between Lexile Levels and F&P? Reading levels have faced criticism, and I want to use a data-driven approach to assess children and accurately determine their reading abilities. How can this be achieved without relying on the flawed non-scientific leveling system?

Hi Ana, can you please talk a little bit about Lexile Levels vs F&P and the accuracy of leveling books. If I wanted to go by the SoR and not leveled books to determine how well a child reads how do I do that? How can I ensure that the child is performing at a satisfactory grade level without relying on the flawed leveling system, which is not based on scientific evidence to determine a child's reading ability?
