Think it's best to take off the front weight off if you're using a tailed implement.used one for a few summers on trailed discs and the front idlers started to lose chunks of metal

Interesting on one of your slow shot vids on one shot it looks as though your trailing the bird not ahead but yet you drop it dead...!? Ps are you using a "Gopro4 black" ...? Enjoyed you vid...
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
I would think it is just misleading because the Gopro is not looking straight down the barrels, so you are not getting the exact same viewpoint as my eye. I always follow the bird to judge speed, direction and range, then when ready to fire I pull through the target until I think I have allowed enough lead and fire. And no, it's a Gopro Hero 3 Black Edition. There are plenty more similar videos coming for this season. Thanks.

Where abouts in Suffolk is this, I lived near by to Leiston in 1988-90, with a family of shooters.., I would love to pay a visit and have a days shoot.., I have a walk up shoot here in Wales, Woodcock in abundance and likewise we have a "no shoot at Woodcock" every other season.. Great videos you have... do you use a "Gopro4 Black"...?
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
Hi Glyn. Glad you are enjoying the videos. I haven't shot a Woodcock for a few years now, as despite their reputation they rarely look too challenging to shoot and I like to see them about (Especially as we don't see big numbers in this area of the country). No, I still use a Gopro Hero 3 Black Edition. I keep reading bad reviews of the newer Gopros, so I have stuck with the Hero 3 for now. Thanks.

Some of these birds are about 10ft off the end of the barrel! So unsporting.
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
Nick, there are no shots that are '10ft off the end of the barrel', so lets not exaggerate! As much as I would love every shot I take to be at longer range (but still within my abilities), the fact is that on these shoot days we all have to take shots that are not 'high birds', because otherwise we would get very few shots, and not have any game to eat or give away afterwards!

To my understanding, the idea of not shooting Geese with Lead shot, is the risk of it showering into water, where other water birds may pick it up and ingest it. Surely when shooting Geese over farm land, Lead shot is entirely appropriate?
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
You raise a good point Ken. But legally, it does not matter where a goose is located when it is shot, as it is illegal to shoot them with lead in England (The rest of the UK may have similar rules). I suppose the thought is that if a wounded bird has lead shot in its body, and makes it back to some water. Then when it dies and breaks down, the lead would end up in the water. (The lead ban in England covers all ducks and geese, coots and moorhen.)
@kenaston42207 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the explanation, I understand now.

Very poor. Some easy misses, some very low birds taken, some very unsporting birds (Geese to name a couple - and shot with lead no doubt, as you didn’t change ammo prior) and stealing your neighbours birds. Be ashamed.
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
Wow, the fun police are out! 1) Yes, unfortunately I do miss sometimes - i'm sorry that offends you. I'm sure everybody else you watch shooting, and maybe even yourself have never missed!? 2) This is not a 'high bird' shoot, there is a limit to how high they fly in this area of the country. 3) With an edited video that has obvious gaps between clips, how can you tell what I have loaded into my gun - another skill you have over everybody else! 4) My neighbours are friends of mine, and we are quite happy to share birds. Having just watched your own 'Filmed on a Potato' shooting video, it looks like you need to take your own advice on 'low birds'. The last bird is 'walked-up' height, not for a driven day. But I'm not going to go onto your channel and leave stupid comments, as I'll leave that sort of thing to professionals like yourself.
