How many acres did you plant with the 2) 50 lb bags of wapsie valley corn?
@punkinhed812 жыл бұрын
Don't remember. I plant it lower population than regular hybrid corn. I plant 25-26k same as I do sweet corn. If you plant it higher population stalks will be skinny & spindly and it won't stand.

You could rewire the hold switch to the lapbar so everytime you lift up, it would drop the parking brake to stop the machine from rolling forward. Basically what Bobcat has Wired originally

There was trouble with that. That's why I bypassed it.

@@punkinhed81 run a new switch in place of the old one, this way you don't have to reset it everytime you exit the machine

Only have to reset it when I turn off machine and start it up. Once I start it I just bump the button once
@scottbennett80182 жыл бұрын
Thx for the share. - I have the same problem. You could just put a timer in hooked to the starter motor btw to make things easy for yourself. - or just put it direct to the starter solenoid might be even simpler. (The white wire) You explained the mystery of what wire does what very well.

Hi, Where did you get that switch, link or model number? Does it send a pulse to pull it up?
@punkinhed813 жыл бұрын
Just regular switchs at napa. I leave toggle on all the time when running it powers the low side that holds it off. Its off and on with key. So when i first start it i have to hit button to suck the rod up to disengage brake. Then if its running and i want to put brake on i shut off toggle and pin drops down.

@@punkinhed81 It has no governor at all? I figured they might at least rig up an air vane governor on the radiator fan. I saw an old guy do that on his model-t engine powered sawmill.

It sounds like the problem was the weather this past year and not the variety. If you select out the good ears that would be harvestable then plant that next year you might have a good corn after a few years. Might be good for feeding your own animals and not have the cost of expensive hybrid seed. I think this old OP corn you got to work with over time to find the genes that work well for your area. The guy in Michigan selling Tommy Boy corn is Wapsie Valley crossed with some good inbreds used for hybrid corn. That might also be worth giving a try.
