It sounds like the problem was the weather this past year and not the variety. If you select out the good ears that would be harvestable then plant that next year you might have a good corn after a few years. Might be good for feeding your own animals and not have the cost of expensive hybrid seed. I think this old OP corn you got to work with over time to find the genes that work well for your area. The guy in Michigan selling Tommy Boy corn is Wapsie Valley crossed with some good inbreds used for hybrid corn. That might also be worth giving a try.

How many acres did you plant with the 2) 50 lb bags of wapsie valley corn?

Don't remember. I plant it lower population than regular hybrid corn. I plant 25-26k same as I do sweet corn. If you plant it higher population stalks will be skinny & spindly and it won't stand.
