Hello, after 10 minutes of listening to you, it seems to me that there is a real problem with your analysis! Would you listen to Piper's complete answer to the question of our being under the 10 commandments? You could not say he's an antinomian, he says the law is under us, pushing us, motivating us, moving us, we are carried by the law. But you did not let the full answer be explained and you seem to go on ignoring that part of his answer. Also, loving God is the greatest command, it mixes our pleasure in God with your legal requirements and in the clips you aired Piper also talks about obligation to be happy and find delight in God, how then can you talk about him as someone against all laws which antinomianism should be? From what I hear, you're either greatly mistaken about Piper's position or you are dishonest. I cannot really understand how you could miss the mark to such an extent in your scrutiny. Can you help me?

Piper, wipe that idiot grin off your face. Bevelyn Beatty Williams, a beautiful black woman and mother to a two year old, was just sent to a Federal Prision because of the Biden/Harris DOJ. WHY? For preaching the gospel and “impeding ingress” at an abortion facility. Yet you maintain the Church should be willing to sacrifice life and freedom to keep Trump from office (as long as it’s not your life, or your freedom). Your never-Trump political views absolutely disgust me. You’d rather see the nation go down in flames if Trump was in charge of the Fire Department. You and Ray Ortlund are two peas in a pod.

What excites Piper is the Christian joy of Kamala Harris. Did you know she is Baptist? Kamala will be Piper’s poster girl for Christian hedonism. Such exuberance! Such jubilation! Such genuine joy! The only problem is her joy may be based on putting tampons in boys restrooms. Or seeing trans-women beat girls to a pulp. Or giving 2.4 billion for abortions in black countries. Or the ego-gratification that comes from funding two high-casualty wars. But these things have never stopped Piper from facilitating a Democrat to office in the past.

There's no such thing as a 'gay Christian' just as much as there's no such things as a 'thief Christian'. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 rebukes this: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Notice Paul says: "such were some of you." if you're still holding on to your vile gay affections claiming to be a 'gay Christian' Scripture says you're unregenerate.

There are women rotting away in federal prison, serving sentences of 11 years, for simply praying inside an abortion clinic. John Piper did the same thing 30 years ago, was arrested, and released a few hours later. The difference? Joe Biden and his satanic department of justice. How did this president get in office? Piper, on a post sent out two weeks prior to the 2020 election, called people who supported Trump liars. He accused us of naïveté. He said we were presumptuous. He said the Trump wasn’t “effectively pro-life” when he saved millions. And the women languish behind bars. Some are grandmothers in their 70’s. One is in her 80’s. These are DEATH SENTENCES. I have no use for any pastor who cast aspersions on Trump supporters when all we wanted to do was to save babies. Piper got his wish. Trump out of office. And now Biden has given 2.4 billion dollars to pay directly for foreign abortions and to pay for foreign abortion doctor training. Oh, and we also pay for transgender surgeries. We coerce children into questioning their gender. Piper has been called out repeatedly in vain attempts to wrest an apology from him. He steadfastly refuses.

I found this post very confusing. I think Vaughn is standing clearly on the Biblical teaching of sex and marriage. He recognises that he has desires for the same sex (unwelcomed) but they are desires he resists. He is clear that his identity is in Christ and rooted in that reality - hence he speaks of himself as someone who is SSA rather than Gay to make clear that his identity is in Christ. I think the example he cites of a man he knows who is happily married but battles with lust for those of the same sex is rather like me - I am happily married but battle with the temptation to lust (in my case after those of the opposite sex). I find Vaughn's insights and honesty very challenging and encouraging. Because of Vaughn's teaching and example I know some (who have found very hard acknowledge that battle with SSA) who have been incredibly helped to live for Christ and to wage war against their temptations rather than to do what the world (and sadly the church) is increasingly doing - and that is to welcome those desires and to act on them. Those that battle sinful lusts and do so sacrificially (in commitment to celibacy) are the Christian role models and heroes of our time. I think they are courageous, often pilloried by the liberals, and sadly often misunderstood and attacked by some conservatives too. Andrew

Keller is saying that motivation is all important when obeying God's law. This is quite Biblical as witnessed by Jesus Himself...Another brilliant insight is his arguing that underlying the breaking of God's laws is the sin of self-justification. Again, this another perfectly plausible reading of scripture. You seem unable to allow for any different reading of the Bible that does not agree with yours. You seem to be a self-appointed Protestant literalist Pope that goes around dishing out judgment and condemnation to anyone who disagrees with you. May God have mercy on us all

I only heard of John Piper a few years ago on reading his commentary of a small section of the Bible. But, even at the beginning, there seemed something lacking in his teaching. For example, his definition of "Covenant" which came up in a church Bible study seemed to be saying that God has a DUTY to make us happy! There was nothing whatever about OUR duty to Him. @janesylvers605. That is one of the confusing things about people like this, their errors are mixed up with large servings of truth. So well mixed in fact that it's difficult to notice the contradictions, omissions and other errors in between. This video clarified a lot for me about where John Piper is coming from, and it made me sad because he seems so desperately lost. Not so much a wolf in sheep's clothing as a lost sheep trying to be a shepherd. But none the less dangerous for his apparent need and sincerity. Has he EVER experienced the true joy of the Lord?...

I stopped listening to this tripe at around 6:00. Stott's assessment that we are all sexual sinners in God's eyes is perfectly Biblical, and comes directly from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:27-28). If the speaker wants us to *seriously* believe he has never had a lustful thought after conversion, he's going to have to ply us with some strong alcohol, because such an assertion is patently absurd. *All* have sinned sexually, because *all* have experienced lust, and have therefore, according to Christ himself, committed adultery, which is sin. Get. over. yourself. Quit. lying. about. your. purity. You. aren't. fooling. anybody. Every time I hear a self righteous Christian who is *so* sure of his/her thinking that Jesus didn't mean what he said about the two great commandments, I think of Revelation 5. The angel is proclaiming "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" It's the beginning of the apocalypse, and seals must be opened so that we can get to the New Heaven and the New Earth and God's reign forever. If you're *so* sure that Christ was wrong, that the shema is irrelevant, and that we don't *really* need to love our neighbors as ourselves, then **YOU** open the seals, dearest brother, *what are you waiting for?!*. I would very much like to spend time with my loved ones who are no longer with us, and if you, dearest brother, can speed up that occurrence, it would be much appreciated. 🙂 Way too many Christians enjoy majoring in the minors. It makes us look bad. It's not about you. It's about God's love for us. Understand the difference.

You are WAY off on this sir. All Christians need to be reminded of the gospel and their identity in Christ. The Apostle Paul literally starts his epistles with the gosple reminding believers of who they are in Christ to encourage, strengthen, correct and guide believers for obedience. You should read Romans 8 and Ephesians 1-3 and colossians and Philippians and 1 Peter and the rest of the new testament and Psalms. The reformed confessions also say this: "The Cheif end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever"

The Tuth about Racism The left has completely revised history to support their narrative. The truth will set you free. Here are some facts to put racism in historic perspective. More blacks live in slavery today than at any point in history. Muslims have been enslaving Africans for 1300 years. European traders didnt enslave Africans. They bought slaves from Muslim slave traders. Still abhorrent but very different from the propoganda liberals promulgate. The Democrat party was founded in 1827 to expand slavery. The Republican party was founded in 1854 to fight slavery. Every confederate state was dominated by Democrats. Every Union state was controlled by Republicans. After the Civil War, Democrats founded the KKK. Black codes, poll taxes, Jim Crow laws and segregation were all invented to suppress black voting by Democrats. Democrat governors fought desegregation. For nearly a century, black congressmen and senators were Republican before being accepted by the Democrat party. LBJ devised his Great Society scheme to break up black families and create dependence upon government handouts. Affirmative Action, or any program that conveys benefits based upon race, is racist. The people who speak the loudest about racism are, almost always, the worst racists. If you support someone because of their race, you are racist. Racism is rampant among minorities. I wish Christians were equally concerned about other sins like fornication.

I’ve read a lot of CS Lewis. And I really enjoyed his writings, but I never got the whole Christian hedonism thing. He talked about joy and he talked about happiness, but he also talked about loving God with your mind. He talked about reason. And he talked about seeing. So I’m not really getting this whole Christian hedonism thing with CS Lewis. Maybe someone can explain it to me? Because I’m just not seeing it.
@carynborland1549 Жыл бұрын
For the most part, this video seems to be pretty right on. I appreciate the explanation as the whole concept of “Christian hedonism“ just seems bizarre and confusing. And God is not a God of confusion. Piper seems to be adding things. Also, have you seen his doctrine of how to be saved? It throws Ephesians 289 completely out the window. And if you’re a Calvinist (which I’m not) it also totally does away with the concept of unconditional election. Rather than letting scripture interpret scripture as this video is trying to do piper seems to put his own spin on things which is very disturbing. The Bible tells us to call out false teachers, so I don’t see the issue in his video. If he has a problem with Pipers teachings, he should be pointing it out. Paper goes down a very slippery slope in my opinion.

I will like to start with some presuppositions before continuing with my comment. I am a born-again Christian who subscribes to the 1689 London Baptist Confession. I believe that God is sovereign over the affairs of this world. The world that we have today is governed by God's eternal decree, of which racism is a part, though He is not the author of any sin associated with racism. I believe that God created all human beings regardless of race, color, or creed to be of equal worth and dignity. In all honesty, I view racism as a sin in the same as other sins, hence it needs to be repented of and forgiveness is guaranteed for God's elect, whom God will certainly give the power to forsake this sin. Though I am only a few minutes into watching this video, I am getting the impression that racism is being over-emphasized. You seem to believe that slave ownership is OK. As a person who lived in London in the 1980s and 1990s, I have first-hand experience of racial discrimination from being denied employment or being stopped by the police for no reasonable reason. As recently as 2016, I was denied a job through racism though I saw God's providence in this because I later secured a job that was better paid and had better prospects. In 2013, as a family, we were accused of theft when we went to a restaurant in a well-known holiday resort. We noticed that we were the only black family that went to this restaurant, but we took no notice. It was on our third visit as we were leaving, the security pulled aside and claimed that another family has accused us of theft. We were not allowed to speak to the family, but our resort was searched but nothing was found. The family later claimed to have found their mobile phone. We received no apology from either the resort or the family. I just had to stop watching this video because it doesn't seem to paint a true picture of racism. I was once a victim of a racist attack in the 1990s by a white woman. I couldn't report the incident to the authorities for fear of being prosecuted with some trumped-up charges, which was standard practice at the time. You may like to know that Dwayne Brooks, Stephen Lawrence's friend was treated as a suspect of his murder and was indeed prosecuted afterwards. He was of course acquitted. Yes the UK has done very much to curb the incidents of racism, but to think that Cecil Rhodes is justified in owning slaves is rather unfortunate. Whilst I do not agree with his statue being vandalized, isn't it a fact that slavery through forced labor is an attack on the doctrine of creation? EDIT I found the following news today (2nd August 2023). Please convince me that these were not incidents of racism. For example, will a 90-year-old white woman ever be handcuffed in the U.K., without there being any form of outcry? Joy’s uncle Carl Smith is speaking in a week when a Black woman in London was handcuffed by police in front of her son for not showing the bus ticket she’d paid for. Also in a week with six London officers under investigation after a 90-year-old Black woman with dementia was handcuffed, put into a spit hood and had a Taser pointed at her. All six still have their jobs. Carl, 75, says: “We hear of what’s happening in the police force now around institutional racism and I don’t know that it’s going to change in a hurry. It’s very sad.”

There's a man striving to be holy and live for God, and there's you knocking him down for admitting his struggles and saying he wants to be holy and pure. You jolly we'll know that we're all tempted in many ways. Even Jesus was tempted, so he must have had desires too. Does that make him a sinner? Hebrews 4:15 ; He was tempted in the same ways we are tempted, but he never sinned. What's more this man is accountable to others and is encouraging others to be accountable for their behaviour. You should be praising him for helping believers live holy lives rather than putting out this hateful bile! No-one fully knows or understands the root cause of same-sex attraction - though there are certainly some to links the lack of a father - and to assume that someone can simply 'switch off' such an attraction is extremely ungracious and unkind. What's your favourite thing to eat? Perhaps a nice juice steak? Can you switch off wanting a steak? You might go without eating one for a while, but the desire is there isn't it! Come on. Surely you can be a little kinder than this!

Fascinating question posed by the narrator: "But does John's gospel teach the kind of incarnational model advocated by Stott?" The narrator answers the question: "The answer is an emphatic No! Stott is interpreting the text to support his own political agenda." Stott changed his understanding of the mission of the church based on Matt 28:19-20 to what he understood it to be based on John 20:21. The narrator sums up this change: "So at Lausanne Stott downplayed preaching, and the traditional understanding of the Great Commission, and elevated social action and the incarnational model of the Great Commission." This cited quote from Stott's The Lausanne Covenant An Exposition and Commentary in 1974 provides context and balance: "we express penitence both for our neglect of our Christian social responsibility and for our naive polarization in having sometimes regarded evangelism and social concern as mutually exclusive..." This became known as the holistic model of the Great Commission.
