When I got my two Russian Blues- kittens, they would exhaust me with their energy and non stop mischief. I was selling my house and they knocked a lamp over when I was not there, and the bulb caught the bedspread on fire- well smoldering and luckily an agent was showing the house and I was contacted. My female: she went down a dryer vent, got stuck on a roof for 8 hours, hid at the vet's office only to be found 1 hour later behind some books in the vet's office. And there is more. I have always called her my problem child! But wouldn't have it any other way. And she got away during a move and was in the woods, coyote, bear rain, snow for 17 days and she finally came to me when I opened up a can of tuna, starving and skinny. She was so scared that she stayed in the woods within a mile radius. I almost lost my job because I couldn't stop crying, worried she would not make it. They are wonderful cats though.

My Russian Blue ("Natasha") would follow me everywhere. She would be quite vocal if she at least didn't see me if I was home. When I took a bath she would sit on the bathroom sink and watch me and if I put my head under the water and made "bubbling" sounds she would cry out as if she was worried I was drowning. And if I had friends over she would immediately run and hide under my bed as she was very "skittish" around people she didn't know.

Years ago, on Christmas Eve, I rescued a Russian Blue, who was frantically trying to get across a very busy intersection in Houston, Texas. Thanks to some men in the fire truck next to me, we were successful. I didn’t know what a Russian Blue was, until I took Buster to have him checked out. He was cool, calm, and just the right addition to our active fur-baby family. We had many years of happiness with Buster. Two weeks ago, I came across another Russian Blue. Graylie is gorgeous and aloof, but still very sweet and loving. She definitely has her own personality! We are in the process of getting her acquainted with her feline brother, Milo, and canine sisters, Ellie Marie and Roxie. Rescue is our favorite breed!

@russianbluecatfact8 ай бұрын
That's an incredible story! Finding a precious Russian Blue on the street and having her be your companion for over 20 years is truly special. It sounds like you two have an amazing bond. Twenty years is a fantastic age for a cat, and it's wonderful that she's still so loving. It's completely understandable that you can't imagine life without her. The love between humans and cats can be truly remarkable. Here are some things you can do to ensure her golden years are comfortable and happy: Regular vet checkups: Senior cats may need more frequent checkups to monitor their health. Senior-friendly environment: Ramps or raised food bowls can make life easier for older cats. Dietary adjustments: Your vet may recommend a senior cat food to meet her nutritional needs. Extra TLC: Spend quality time with her, offer gentle petting and brushing, and cherish these moments together.

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Russian Blue. Losing a pet is incredibly difficult, and it sounds like you're still grieving their absence. Twelve years is a long and happy life for a cat, and it's clear how much they meant to you. There's no right or wrong timeframe for grieving, and it's perfectly understandable that you're not ready to replace your cat right now. The cost of Russian Blues can be high, and it's important to find a reputable breeder if you decide to go that route in the future.

We had one growing up his name was Smoky and he was the best. My sister would rap him up in a blanket and push him around in her baby buggy. He was also a fierce protector of our house. He’d always bring us presents and liked to sneak into our grandma’s purse and steal candy. I have a grey tabby now because he reminds me of him ❤️
@russianbluecatfact8 ай бұрын
That's such a sweet story about Smoky! It sounds like he was a real character and a beloved member of the family. The image of your sister pushing him around in a baby buggy is adorable - some cats are surprisingly tolerant! It's wonderful that Grey reminds you of Smoky. Maybe there's a bit of that same spirit and protectiveness in him. The candy-stealing antics are too funny - they definitely had a mischievous streak in common! Grey sounds like a great cat too, keeping the tradition of bringing you "presents." It's amazing how cats can bring so much joy and personality into our lives. Here's to Smoky and Grey, both wonderful companions! ❤

Ours just appeared out of the woods one day……..he’s a hunter for sure, I get at least 3 gifts a day 😜. He doesn’t like to be picked up but he loves to be hugged. He’s just like a dog he follows us all around the yard. Won’t use a litter box. Goes outside. Won’t drink water from a bowl or a fountain. He drinks out of a spring. He will sit beside us in the morning while we drink our coffee. Will crawl in bed with us but sleeps at our feet…….he’s the softest, silkiest cat I’ve ever had………don’t know who got rid of him but we’re glad to have him……..by the way, his name is Grey ❤❤

It sounds like Grey adopted you, and what a wonderful addition he is! Here's a reply combining the best of both worlds: That's an amazing story! Finding a cat who chooses you is a special thing. Ours showed up one day too, so we know the feeling. Grey sounds like quite the character! The daily gifts are adorable - a true hunter showing his love. Ours isn't a cuddle bug either, but enjoys some good chin scratches on his own terms. Following you around the yard? That's practically a dog move! Fresh spring water, huh? Cats can be so particular. Ours prefers the faucet drip over a bowl any day. At least Grey uses the great outdoors as his litter box! Maybe someday he'll warm up to a box inside, but for now, nature calls. Coffee companion and bedtime snuggler (at his own paw-se)? Sounds like Grey has routines down pat. Silky fur is the best, isn't it? We're so glad Grey found his forever home with you. Give him a gentle ear scratch from us! ☕

I have a Russian Blue Cat, but he is bad, gets into everything, likes to be as high as he can get, on top of furniture and curtain rods, the only time he wants on my lap is when he is tired and sleepy. He is very intelligent, opening cabinet doors and room doors. He is going on 3 years old but doesn’t have green eyes yet. He keeps me very busy.
@russianbluecatfact10 ай бұрын
It sounds like you have quite the mischievous but intelligent companion in your Russian Blue Cat! Their penchant for exploration and high places is typical of the breed's curious and agile nature. It's fascinating how they can figure out how to open doors and cabinets, showing off their problem-solving skills. While it can be tiring to keep up with such an active feline friend, it's also rewarding to see them thrive in their environment. As he grows older, he may eventually develop the distinctive green eyes that Russian Blues are known for, adding to his charm. Remember to provide plenty of mental and physical stimulation for your cat through interactive toys, puzzle feeders, and designated climbing areas to help channel his energy in positive ways. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, you'll continue to enjoy the unique companionship of your Russian Blue.

It's fascinating how individuals can perceive and name colors differently. The term "blue" in the context of cats may indeed seem counterintuitive, as it often refers to a diluted black color that appears more grayish. Your choice to call them "Russian Grey" reflects a personal interpretation and naming preference. It's a great example of how language and perception can vary, adding a unique touch to our understanding of colors and their names.

My russian blue is just a typical russian-- wants nothing to do with anyone , comes down for food and water and other than that acts like you are bothering it. After goes and hides in one of the beds. Im keeping it just cause its so soft.if you let it in the living room, it hides under the couch so good luck getting it out . If you like abusive relationships,its a catch! Lol
@russianbluecatfact11 ай бұрын
It sounds like your Russian Blue cat has quite an independent and reserved personality! Cats, including Russian Blues, are known for their unique temperaments, and each cat has its own preferences for social interactions. Some cats enjoy being more independent and may prefer solitude, while others are more social and affectionate. Your description of your cat's behavior, seeking food and water and then retreating to a hiding spot, is not uncommon. Some cats are more comfortable in their own space and may take time to warm up to social interactions. The softness of its fur must be a delightful bonus for you. If you enjoy observing your cat's independent nature and find comfort in its softness, it seems like you've found a good companion, even if it's not the most affectionate. Cats have a way of bringing their own charm to our lives, each in their own unique way!

@russianbluecatfact11 ай бұрын
Russian Blue cats, like all cats, are prone to moments of wanting their own space and may even give off a "go away" or indifferent vibe. Since cats are independent creatures, their mood, amount of energy, and surroundings can all have an impact on how they behave. When your cat shows you these kinds of signals, you need to respect their boundaries and give them the room they require.

Are there breeders that have only Russian Blue.
@russianbluecatfact11 ай бұрын
Indeed, some breeders focus exclusively on Russian Blue cats. A special cat breed called the Russian Blue stands out for its refined appearance, luxurious silver-blue fur, and fascinating green eyes. Breed standards, temperament, and health are top priorities for conscientious breeders. If you are considering getting a Russian Blue cat, search for a reputable breeder who will breed your cat welfare first. Look for breeders who perform health checks, care for their animals, and are honest about their breeding methods. Don't forget to consider adoption. Russian Blue cats in shelters or rescue groups may need a loving home. A cat needing a home isn't the only benefit of adopting from a shelter;.

We picked up a stray kitten months back and recently were told he's probably a Russian Blue. So I've since watched multiple videos of Russian Blues. I've noticed an absurd amount of discrepancy in posters knowledge. This poster says Russian Blues need scheduled vet visits because they're prone to health issues when there are other's that say that the RB'S are one of the least likely cat breed to have health complications. Do you posters actually research or do you just pull this shit out of your ass for content?
