This is so informative! However, for number 1, what do you mean by research? Is it general research about the industry? Agencies in my area? Acting itself? I am just a little confused.

There's more to consider than that. This was my topic for my own subscribers this week. Some of you out there (including this writer and vlogger) have the artist aspiration. You have been told by the very few who made it to believe in yourself and never give up. Well the simply fact is the arts are very different than any other profession. Because usually--someone else has to let you in. Now what I would tell you if you are 18 or 40 and feel that your destiny is in the arts? I would not tell you to just stay the "safe route" and give up on your dreams. I would tell you to pursue the artist aspiration smartly. Get another trade that you at least like. So the agents of industry never have you by the throat. You have to go to work anyway so you might as well have the job that pays well. I never went through the starving artist phase. I went through a starving student phase. So when I finally did pursue the artist endeavor I did it with a job I also like that contracts for 100K a year and four month vacations in Europe. That's how you go through being a starving artist. You don't starve at all. Hope this helps someone---Charles
@davideleoni40974 күн бұрын
but if you have a 100k job doing something else you’re also not a full artist and the results you get will be a reflection on how much time your put on your acting career. You will rarely make that money with acting this way, as soon as you get something bigger you need to quit the job and you won’t, because you value money over your artistic career which makes sense. thanks for sharing anyway.

How does someone study the industry, when there is so much conflicting information out there? Plus, when it comes to training, I'm giving it a go online right now. But nothing beats being there in person, this virus is hindering the real experience of getting the real training most of us need.

I’d say just keep working and practice your acting skills during your free time, everything is just a matter of planning your time, your routine. And don’t be discourage, if you really wants to act, then move into it, there’s way more oportunity nowadays with KZbin, TikTok and all that stuff. Good luck on your journey, man.

I just have no idea why videos like these exist. Almost everything that is a factor in acting, is a factor in daily life or any other job aswell. Acting has become such a big and enlarged job that it just feels stupid to even think about doing it. My advice to everyone is, dont let yourself get influenced or discouraged by your idols telling you you shouldnt. When they tell you that you should only consider it when you go 110% for it, backfire at yourself. How stupid does that sound. You decide how much you are into this. If you want this, and there is nothing that stops you from thinking the same, and if you have gotten a plan or a grasp on something then fuck what everybody else says. Dont let them enter that personal aura that is there to make you keep going. Because you make your own experiences. Dont doubt yourself when an actor says that you should do this job only if you are 110% sure about it. That feeling was there once, and it will be there for as much as you decide or want it to be. The part that sucks the most is that the whole process is always sold properly, but always gets to burned down by famous actors its just uncanny. Cause there is nothing to stress about. Nothing to fear about. When at an audition, dont come there with the mindset: I need this job. You come there, telling the casting directors, "hey, im here to fix your problem. You can work with me. I promise. This is what I can do." And then you leave, since the rest is out of your control. Cause when you leave, there are moments when the directors are gonna be like, "he is good. Real good. Not for this role, but good." And when they start another project, youll get a call. "Its about making conections." You are not bad, you dont suck at acting... You werent the fix to THEIR problem. (For now). ~Kevin Spacey. Its the confidence many people loose. Which sucks, cause with enough confidence anyone can do anything. (I have made all given work of 2 years of college together, in 3 weeks. Cause I fucked up. But i got a confidence boost right after I had a talk with my mentors saying that I should start grabbing my bags and look for another school. Cause this aint it. I was mentally damaged for too long and too much, and decided, im proving my teachers and parents wrong. I am able to do this "impossible".) Now I am preparing for a year of graphics designing for a company that earns millions a day in the middle of the city of Rotterdam. But a year back, I was still deciding if I should keep doing anything at all. My mental illness made me suicidal again for 3 more years. Every actor says, you are talented enough. No matter what. But the only thing that is needed is that someone throws a ball at you. All you need to do is run. And we all have ran many times in our lives. Think realisticly supportive of yourself and about your current situation. Cause that mindset is gonna show, and pay off.

Fame in itself is kind of a con. It's hard to walk in a street unnoticed, let alone somewhere super populated. Relationships after fame could be fake, friendships forged from your fame, ect. For me, that's not a pro.

#2 "No Financial Base" is the reason why I've been unable to pursue an acting career as I've always wanted to. I signed up with a scam agency known as John Robert Powers when I was 16 who did nothing but wasted my time and my mother's money and it left a bad taste in both of our mouths. Fast forward to May 2010, I got my BA in Public Relations when I was 23 and decided I would re-pursue an acting career again now as an adult. Problem was I lived too far at the time (Mission Viejo in South OC which is 62 miles away from Hollywood just going one way oy) and I didn't have a car yet. I started working temp jobs in accounting of all job fields (and have also been working on writing on my own compilation fighting video-game project off and on since April 2010 to now). I told myself "once ALL my debt is paid off and I have enough money saved up that I live comfortably unemployed a good 6 months THEN I'll pursue an acting career," accepting that I would be a late bloomer actor. Every year since 2013 to now, I've said to myself "I am really wasting the prime of my youth in these office cubicles wow lol" but I needed to bring in money to pay my bills (car insurance, apartment rent, student loans) and groceries every single month. I didn't even start actually pursuing an acting career again till late 2014-mid 2016 when I was 28 and 29 yrs old and Mr. Smith is not wrong lol. You CANNOT go to acting jobs or even go to auditions while you're working a full-time 40 hour job!! All in all, I only have a couple backstage extra jobs and some theater performances on my resume. Well, now I'm 33, currently unemployed in Houston, TX of all places, have been working paycheck to paycheck jobs in accounting for 8 years (gotten fired from *alot* of them due to ALWAYS getting bored and distracted on the Internet since I have ADHD), have 75K in debt (60K student loans) and yet...I STILL want to be an actor (as well as now screenwriter and I'm glad to say my video-game project is almost complete now too)... I just refuse to give up on my dream and I hope anyone who reads this knows acting is an ageless occupation, meaning you can start an acting career NO MATTER what your age is :] *Sorry for my rant; just want to give encouragement to others that it's NOT too late to continue pursuing a dream even if your current circumstances are bad, difficult, or worse than you thought lol*

@@THEDOORIZCLOSED I just made sure to look at reviews of places before visiting them/websites before signing up with them. My acting pursuits 😅 have been few far and between. I've been more on the creative writing side than acting. I've been writing a fighting game compilation project with 300 characters that I hope to pitch and sell, and get created by 2022 (though I was hoping to be done with it by 2016 until my laptop got virus infected 😭 and have been having to re-do the last 1/3 of it all over again). Problem was I put completing that over pursuing acting jobs. I've sporadically starred in some theater productions once every few yrs BUT just now have been applying to acting jobs on backstage.com, and looking for online acting auditions to submit to. I'm frustrated cause I'm thinking "I wish I had been pursuing acting as soon as I was a freshman in high school all the way to now 😅" though I realize now that no age is too old to start pursuing it.

Acting is Mostly for Deluded Fools, and egotists, 99% are found out to be the interlopers they really are, if you want to make it however hard you try shallow Vein Soulless assholes will always be CHORUS material, never the lead, most end up selling out as Prostitutes, which is what Acting IS, Selling your entire self for a Cash reward.... Work in Walmart, that is where you can feel at home with the mediocre would bes in society.... My advice SUICIDE is easier than getting a part in a major Motion Picture..
