Just no control with the pin great for rivers, still ad alot of bad luck there pal
@12volt
@12volt 12 күн бұрын
I find I have the same or more control with the pin , the reason I swapped to a fix spool was 2 fold , 1 - a 20 mph side wind that was making it uncomfortable ( without a line guard) to fish 2 - just to see if it was something to do with the pin . As you can see in the video I still lost fish in exactly the same way on a fixed spool and in retrospect think it was a problem with the fishes mouths . Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Looks a nice place mate,pity you lost a lot of fish but it does seem to me that it's like that on a lot of commercials for whatever, it's like some of the fish never get a proper hook hold wether because of damaged mouths or what,a place where I go makes me wonder how they can ever take a bait the state of some mouths, apart from that mate I enjoyed the film, tite lines

eyup fella , I was sitting here last night while making the video and the exact same thought ran through my head ! Hiya Paul , not sure what they were so pre occupied with but they are mostly filter feeders , so maybe there was a big algae bloom or something , I really don't know but they are so rarely fished for that i'm not sure they really know what bread is , just wish i had some maddies or rag but heyho it's all a learning experience eh! I usually mix a can of tuna in oil into the bread slop ( top tip ) and fish around harbours where the use to eating bread near moored up boats and be stealthy these fish are very cunning but not impossible to catch another thing you can do if you cant get to a harbour get a big onion sack put a brick in it attach a rope ( obviously) full the bag with bread and leave it over night when you return you should see the bastards suckling on the bag then the jig is up and they will go nuts for that bread !!! The trick is they have to get use to eating bread before you can catch them pre baiting is a must in your situation i think good luck bud
@12volt
@12volt 19 күн бұрын
Hiya Jozsef , I did add some oil to my mushed up groundbait , I think that these mullet are so very rarely fished for that they don't really know what bread is ! just wish i had some worms or maddies with me , might have helped with a bit more natural bait . I have caught plenty of them in the past though but it was just one of those days where they were totally preoccupied with filter feeding , maybe there has been a massive algae bloom or something , but we live and learn buddy ! I nearly didn't post the video tbh but I spose it keeps it reel that we don't get fish every time out , I just wanted to share the frustration of having / finding soo many fish but not being able to land one . As always thanks for watching and commenting buddy its really appreciated . All the best 👍

Slapping the rim of the reel to retrieve line is referred to as 'batting'. Some match anglers used to remove the handles on their reels and rely soley on batting. Resorting to a finger or two through the spokes to play larger fish. Ok if alll you are catching is silvers. Centrepin fishing really grows on you. Its a lovely refined way to fish. Beware though, it can lead to you spending a small fortune on reels. 😂
@12volt
@12volt Ай бұрын
Fantastic knowledge Robin thank you for sharing , I shall use the term batting in one of my next videos . Your right about spending a small fortune as i'm already eyeing another one 😉
@robinmoon3980
@robinmoon3980 Ай бұрын
I use centrepins for most of my fishing. The cast that you are using is called the 'Nottingham' cast. Slapping the rim of the reel to retreve line is referred to as 'batting'. For trotting you'll find 3lb - 6lb line will be ideal. (6lb is fine for chub & smaller barbel). 10lb will be slightly stiffer and hinder the line pulling off the reel (fine with big floats and fast flow). Drennan float fish is also a good line. Slightly boyant, so easier to mend when it bows. Stick with it, muscle memory will kick in and it'll start to feel as natural as a fixed spool. Keep an eye out for wild blowing the line around the back of the reel. It wraps around the foot. It's easy enough to rectify (but not with a fish on). Catching carp on a specimen rod (1.75lb-2.25lb TC) and a centrepin is a real joy.
@12volt
@12volt Ай бұрын
Again thank you for your fountain of knowledge Robin , I wouldn't have even thought that there would be a name for a cast ! I think when I purchase my next one ill step down the line to have two for different types of fishing . Thank you for watching and commenting on our little video ATB 👍

Nice bream I bet you enjoyed the fight on the centerpin I use 8lb line low stretch and 6lb hook length on mine and Avon float you will need a longer rod to help with the cast 14 foot I use a daiwa ultra light or shimmano avilo then when you cast you only have to pull out one loop of line out above the fist eye ( from the handle top tip when you lift your rod out keep your float half way the length of your rod then pull line out and under hand cast you should also feed just before you cast handful maggots or small pellets bread particals( mashed bread slop) then trot down the float in the cloud of bait drifting down stream with some practice you will see the difference bud ps my name was jozsef not home joze 😂hope to see you catching loads of fish next time on that beautiful reel

@@12volt Yeh absolutely pal, I mean I’m from the generation or two after yours, but I know what you mean about catching any snippets of outdoors or angling stuff on the tv 📺 back then, as I have fond memories of being a late primary school aged kid in the mid 90’s and I’d be running to my grandmas house after school and stuff to watch her cable tv for the old “ TLC “ and the “ Discovery home and leisure “ angling films and I watched and rewatch all of them so many times over the years, especially the stuff that was made in the uk, like Wilson, Matt Hayes, screaming reels, John Bailey, and some of the other British sea angling films that they had on and the fly fishing shoes, and even the “ Rex hunt “ show’s, I just digested everything related to angling and became a prolific reader of angling paper and then onto the glossy angling mags, as there was no internet, and social media for sharing tips and articles etc, then I went onto collecting all fishing vhs and then dvds I could find, I amassed crazy numbers of dvds at one stage, like around 300 or something, and I fished from around 10 years old learning my craft on the local river, and streams, before I ever tried still waters, and probably fished for nearly 15 years before I ever tried my hand in carp fishing, I mean I’m 40 years old now, but even just 30 years ago you generally progressed as an angler at a slower pace, and because of that I believe that as an individual you leaned better, and perfected your art, and I think it also instilled a better sense of values and achievement, because you built up slowly. Nowadays if you take a 10-15 year old out silver fish or crucians fishing, they are underwhelmed and acting bored, because they see all the internet angling “ role models “ and all 90% of them are doing is pushing bigger specimen carp angling onto them to further push tackle sales , and it’s sad to see really. Anyways I’m prattling on now ! 🤣. But yeh mate it’s just like anything in life practice makes perfect, but your screen presence and the stuff you chat about in your vids are engaging to the viewer so your most the way there . Keep it up. 💯 All the best pal. 🙏☮️🙏
