Some look good, some look worse, the vast majority look almost the same. I guess with how big the roster has become variation in the new designs for non-female characters isn't much of a priority. Specifically a lot of characters DW9 designs look a lot like their DW4 or DW5 design kitbashed with their DW8 design.

Some of the design changes look good but... the loss of the unique weapons is just such an L like MaDai without a paintbrush, ZhangHe without his claws, ZhenJi without a FLUTE?... SunCe WITHOUT TONFAS!? c'mon... the only one I can get behind is Liu Shan no longer fighting with a table lmfao

So Ys basically evolved from a platformer into a full fledged arpg. I kind of wished they would do the same with Zelda.

In DW9, koei tecmo made a complete “family” characters, like the Sima Yi family from Jin, or like Zhang Fei family from Shu. They completely made father, mother and son/daughter character in one line up of the kingdom. I wish they made a new playable woman character for Wu in the future. maybe like Wu Guotai, mother of Sun Shangxiang and wife of Sun Jian. or maybe like Sunshi, daughter of Sun Ce and wife of Lu Xun. So they can make another “family” characters 😂
