Some pressurized porta filters have silicone maybe it's a better alternative right.

Mine only lasted 3 years and it won't pull shots anymore. Thinking maybe the pump isn't putting out enough pressure, as it can't push through the puck. I thought it had 5 year warranty but only 1 year. You can actually unscrew the brew head with Philips screwdriver, really simple to remove and clean. But that didn't fix mine though. Determined to get it back working again, put in a ticket with Breville. I may DIY the pump but it's complicated fix especially since I don't know for sure which parts are bad.

I also have the bambino plus used two plastic chopsticks and pushed them through the bottom two holes of the portafilter at the same time and the plastic popped out very easily. Don’t forget to remove the spring.

Thanks for your help! I use plain citric acid in my water tank to descale, but I didn’t know what to do for my group head. I thankfully already had branch basics oxygen boost so that worked out well! I need to know where you got that tray that you were tampering your coffee grinds on though, do you have a link?

It looks to me like you are brewing with the dual-wall basket. Those are designed to be used with ready ground coffee which you buy at the shop. As you are using coffee you grind yourself then the single-wall baskets are the way to go.

it was a great help watching your video. I used to drink “la llave” pre ground coffee. Is it fine to use a pre ground coffee or do you recommend to buy a grinder? which coffee grains are better to use? Thank you so much for your support! Blessings!
@TheHappyKitchenChannel3 ай бұрын
Hi there! Sorry I missed your comment. I used pre ground for a long time before we purchased a grinder. Meaning I would buy coffee at the store and use their grinder in store. Grind the entire bag to an espresso fineness. It was totally fine. However I did see a big improvement in the quality of shots when we started to buy fresher coffee and also starter grinding it right before we were going to pull the shot. The fresher the coffee the better shot you’ll get. If you can buy coffee with a roasted date printed on it. Our Costco sells a locally roasted coffee that’s amazing and a much better price because it’s in bulk! Hope this helps and thank you for watching !

They put the plastic in them because these machines don't heat the portafilter before use so it "helps" to keep the espresso from cooling when it hits the stainless steel. I agree that I didn't want my drink leeching plastic and building up mold under it. Good video.
@DK-wx8bq9 ай бұрын
You heat the pf by cycling a ‘shot’ of hot water through it before step two of expressing coffee. The system was created to take the art out of making coffee and make it easier for novice baristas.

How do you turn it off ?
@nw599511 ай бұрын
There is a video on youtube teach you to remove it, it is extremely easy', I just use the back of the clour pen and just the right size to fit in the whole then push it lightly the it came out.
@DK-wx8bq9 ай бұрын
Also a good way to slightly loosen the plastic piece so when you rinse your pf you can get some water flowing through and allow some space so it can dry out. I often think of users who likely do not do this step and then wash and submerge the pf in soapy water… rinsing or washing without loosening the plastic parts is only going to promote build up of oils and soap - yuk!

Hi, very useful video. I’m in the UK and I have just ventured into the world of espresso. I bought the Bambino plus but found the special grinder rather expensive, perhaps I will progress to that later. Watching other videos, I took their advice and bought a bottomless portafilter, what a mistake that was. After clearing up all the mess from liquid shooting out in all directions I went back to the provided portafilter. Your explanation of the cleaning and descaling processes are by far the best I have seen, and I will no doubt be referring back to this when the time comes. Thanks for your hard work.

Hi. Normally how often you need to do the clean cycle and the descaling?
@TheHappyKitchenChannel Жыл бұрын
The machine will indicate it needs to be cleaned every 200 extractions. And it seems like for us it needs to be descaled about that often as well. We have hard water where we live though. We do use filtered water but I’m sure it still affects how often we need to descale. Thank you for watching!

We purchased a Blackstone from an individual who was not cooking gluten free. Is cleaning with water and oil enough to make it safe to cook a gluten free meal for someone who has Celiac's or do we need to worry about cross contamination?
@TheHappyKitchenChannel Жыл бұрын
When I’ve eaten at Mongolian grills they clean the surface with oil and water when you say you have an allergy. I think a good clean when the grill is really hot should more than likely do it. Unless the grill needs to be reseasoned. If it doesn’t have a nice surface it won’t come as clean. If that’s the case you’d want to reseason the surface following blackstone’s videos on their KZbin

Excellent video - so clear and detailed. The best I've seen. Thank you. I'm on the point of buying a Bambino Plus, but I have seen some complaints on online customer reviews that the machine does not produce coffee that is heated to 200F as specified in the manual. I do like a reasonably hot coffee (not scorching of course, but not luke warm either). Would be most interested to hear from you or other viewers with the BB Plus whether this too-low temperature claim is valid or not. I'm actually thinking of going for the Breville Infuser instead, just because it provides the option to change the brew temperature. If it wasn't for this apparent temperature issue, would be happy to go with the BB Plus because where I live Breville offers a 2 year warranty on this, but only 1 year on the Infuser. Cheers!
@TheHappyKitchenChannel Жыл бұрын
I think it produces reasonably hot coffee. I haven’t ever measured it before. But when I do steamed milk for a latte I usually set it to the second hottest setting. And my husband does the hottest. You can change the temp setting that way when steaming milk but the espresso itself you can’t change. For beginners like myself who are interested in an easy to use product that saves money purchasing coffee I love this machine. It’s extremely easy to use. We have had multiple friends purchase a breville because they loved our coffee machine. Some have opted for this one and some have opted for the fancier ones with grinders attached. It depends on what you want out of your machine. If you really want to get into perfecting your espresso I’d go with a higher price point breville. If you want something fool proof and easy I’d go with this one. Thank you for watching!!
@downonthestreet Жыл бұрын
@@TheHappyKitchenChannel Thanks very much for your response - all makes perfect sense. I have 2 more questions please, if you wouldn't mind answering. 1. With the Bambino Plus, can you pull an espresso and steam milk at the same time? 2. Can you pull 2 cups of espresso, 2 shots in each, at the same time? Cheers!
@TheHappyKitchenChannel Жыл бұрын
No problem! You can’t steam milk and pull a shot at the same time no. And there is only one spot for a portafilter so you can only pull one at a time. But that’s pretty standard for a home machine I believe.

You probably want to buy a non insulated basket for your portafilter. You will find an immediate improvement in your espresso, but you might find that you will want to grind your beans a bit finer. Those insulated baskets you are using (per the manual) are only for pre-ground, coarse ground or older coffee. The new machines come with both insulated and non-insulated baskets. Wait til you see your crema on a non-insulated basket!!! Thanks for the great video.
