Vermeulen with Kolisi, Etsebeth and Pieter Steph Du Toit were also top class, but in this group Vermeulen had to play the hard man role, where Spies could play the role of the finisher. It was so unfortunate that Spies lost fine motor control of the ball as his upper body muscles exploded. He was vulnerable in tackles with the ball in the upper arm. Freaking athlete. Duane beast on the offence. Manhandling tacklers on the run. Every time he would run into incoming traffic that guy will be retarded for another 10 minutes.
