Great talk! How in your opinion we can be better coaches?
@hustlerstudiomfg5 күн бұрын
we have it in our box and i find it absolutely terrible. There is so much pushed in one hour, sometimes it's not doable. when viewing the coaches note they come with times per round as a goal and these are absolutely not for beginners or intermediates and sometimes not even for RX'ers. not a fan of HWPO

I don't know Glassman so he might not be the nicest person, but imho he still is the best option for Crossfit. It's his passion, his baby, no one else cares more about the methodology than he does....

Enjoyed this except the comment about women’s sport. Women’s sport viewership has little to do with anything outside opportunity. Women’s sport hasn’t been given the platform to be viewed as men’s has. Over the last 3 years that has shifted, and with that a lot of women’s sports have better viewership than men’s of the same sport. Soccer for example. Loved how Tye shut down the idea of cancel culture. Blaming cancel culture is what the right does to excuse bad behaviour - basic victim blaming.

How anyone can declare themselves a glassman fan after his recent comments is beyond me 😅 but I think I probably just need to realise you guys either just overlook all the sh*t people say and do because you like them or just actively support it. Neither of those is ok. The magic CrossFit had… was before many of us realised the rampant support of that kind of behaviour.

@@wykieetsebethshe’s talking about him joking about Lazar drowning and referring to him in a really gross/condescending way. (On a Sevan podcast- go figure) Side note @sportybeth - Tye did say outside being grateful for what Glassman created, he doesn’t believe he should be a leader or in charge of CrossFit. He referred to Glassman as the crap ex boyfriend you want back because your current boyfriend isn’t nice either.

It was unique, now every mainstream gym provide similar facilities with often more on top and greater flexibility. Now affiliates seem a little contrived over egging the 'community' thing, fitness and health is the driver and that is not unique to CF. I enjoy watching the games, but nothing compels me to go to a very expensive Box.

Nope. It's not an all or nothing choice. We did MANY dumb things back in the day and I've dedicated the last 13 years to helping boxes professionalise and shake off nonsense like Pukie and Rhabdo. Evolve, but never lose the magic ✨

@vivegroupco I have got in to CF only a couple of years ago, and I think it's a great way to train. But if "the magic" are the cultish excesses of the past, then I am glad they are gone. We need good coaches and services, not the political shit and hyperboles of the Glassman era.

Wow what was said between 23.40 and 27.00 needs to be played on repeat for some box owners!!! Some coaches are “hung out to dry” because a client was told no they’re not ready and complained to the box owner. Then it’s the coach that is take to task rather than the box owner agreeing with the coaches judgement.
@DanTrollope16 күн бұрын
Great vlog mate!! Lots of things that all involved within CrossFit (box owners, coaches and paying clients) need to be reminded of! Being told “No” or “you’re not ready to do that” isn’t a bad thing. Doing the basics well and listening to the coach is what you pay your weekly membership for!

@ correct. Knowing your coaches are doing the right thing by your clients and your business, you must back them. There’s always going to be a client that’s going to be upset because they were told ‘No’ by a coach. Great coaches will build a business and if looked after will do the right thing by all.
@wleng15 күн бұрын
@@DanTrollope box owners can use that as an opportunity to upsell. "Sorry you can't do this because you are just not ready for it. I need to ensure your wellbeing is looked after. If you really want to accelerate your learning and get there quicker, then perhaps you can consider a once a week PT session with Coach Toby who can really help you learn and keep you safe". @vivegroupco16 күн бұрын
Appreciate you watching mate! I can't speak for Wyks, but while I love "Community", it's too often used as a vague catch all for the positive elements of your culture. Every box I work with tells me they have a great community, but when I ask "Why?", they struggle to identify the actual actions that contribute to it. If we can't identify what makes our community special, we can't improve upon them in a meaningful way. Break down what actually makes your community special, figure out how to measure it, then work on consciously improving it 👍 - Tye
